i recently purchased a new computor it came with a nvidia gforce fx5200xt 128mb card i have a ati radeon9600xt 128mb card in my old computor shouild i switch them or buy somthing better

I think the 5200 and the 9600 are pretty much equivalent cards.  Either one should perform well in AHII, if everything else is working good.  I'd just use the setup you already have and save the 9600 as a backup (unless you just prefer ATI cards, then by all means switch).

Check out the VGA charts on http://www.tomshardware.com.  They compare every card on the market on a single chart.  Looking at that, the 5200 is outclassed by the 9600.  The thing you'll need to check on is if your new computer even has an AGP slot.  If it came with only a 5200, there's a chance it doesn't have an agp slot so that 5200 will be the best you'll ever get in that computer.

Either the 5200 or 9600 will run AH ok, but I think the 9600 would be faster.  The 9600 SE is the same speed as the 5200, but the 9600XT seems to be about twice as fast.

I have a 5200 AGP so why would it be a good chance his didnt come with an AGP slot?

Also I am confused on this issue.

I seem to keep getting conflicting info on this issue.

Which is better and which is the direction the industry is headed? AGP or PCI?
I seem to remember hearing one, or the other is being phased out

AGP is Advanced Graphic Port.  This is what you want to use for a Graphics Card.

Some computers come with a built in AGP video card, but no AGP slot to upgrade the video card.

Your ASUS MB has an AGP slot, so if you upgrade your video card, you want to get an AGP card.

The NVidia 'XT' extension is for the 'marketing' products.  They are like the 'SE' cards from ATI.

Putting it more simply:
ATI's 'XT' or NVidia's 'Ultra' tag means 'WOOHOO!'
while NVidia's 'XT' or ATI's 'SE' tag means 'I GOT HOSED!'

The 9600XT from ATI should stomp on the 5200XT.  The 5200XT is slower than a GF4Ti4200.
