Title: Pyro, buff guns are really weird
Post by: AKcurly on November 15, 2004, 02:05:31 PM
Pyro, help me understand something please.  In a b17 or 24, place the target 600 yards back (.target 600) and open up.

Why do I get 3 points of gunfire?  If the guns can see the target, why aren't they impacting the same place?

Since we can no longer control buff gun convergence (assuming this means where the slaved guns converges), why in the world aren't they all slaved to the same point?

This isn't the same thing as guns along an airplane wing.

The guns never autoconverged on a target.  That was, and is, an annoyingly persistent myth.

Aye.  If you read the notes from the updates, the entire reason they took the convergence setting out for the buffs is because you couldnt really set the convergence anyway, like Karnak said.

Really?  Man, I've been here a long time and never heard it. :)

500 yards is an extremely inconvenient crossing point for the slaves.  Around 600 yards out, there's absolutely no reason for the slaves to fire!  Hell, they won't hit anything. :)

I think ya oughta be able to set the convergence of the buff guns on the fly. Talking about convergence of the drone guns of course. This would far more realistically simulate live gunners in those drones that could of course aim more accurately than what we have now. Something short like .dconv 1000 would be nice. Fully understand if this would require to much of a rewrite to be practical though.
