My grandad on my mothers side was in Korea a year or two before the Korean war, he took pictures of landscapes and some Engineer work.
atm, I don't have what year he served or what the Brigade/Company/Div he was in.
We sent in for his military records and got a reply a few weeks later saying that they had been burned in a fire..
Is there any possible wayto look for some other info online? I don't know what websites to look for..
And I don't know what rank he was...
I belive it was PFC or Sgt..
He later did some civilian work with the Navy, Top Secret, and other goverment org. is it possible I can find this info?

You won't be able to find detailed service records for your grandad due to the fire. It destroyed service records from a large time frame. You might be able to find some kind of anecdotal information from the unit records or historical archives of his unit. It depends on wether or not there was a unit historian who saved that kind of data. The almost never have individual specific information unles there was some action by that individual that was particularly noteworthy. There usually is data such as where the unit served and major activities but not to the individual level. If you can find the specific unit you might be able to find a survivors / veterans group from that unit and locate someone who served with him and recalls him.

Search for your granddads separation from service papers. The DD214 will have his length of active service, the unit in which he spent the most time and where he was assigned. He should have kept them since it was needed if he made use of the Korean G.I. bill to buy a house or go to school.
