If you are not using an AMD based system, it would be difficult to go wrong with the regular Audigy 2 ZS.

NOTE:  I put the caveat about AMD in there as every complaint I have ever seen about Creative Labs sound cards was tied to an AMD based system.

Recently bought an Audigy 2 ZS - v happy with it.  Loads of software I'll probably never use but the install was straight-forward enough.

Used to have onboard sound, now the cpu can get on with doing some more important stuff like tree calculations. :D

I have a plain Audigy, ( not the 2) in my Athlon64 3200.  It works great and is a heck of a lot cheaper than a 2. Around $30 to $50, depending if you find it on sale.
