Come one, come all, this week the CT is the setting of what many believe to be the best of the early-war plane sets.
Enjoy the thrill of piloting AH’s most delightful fighter, the Hurricane I, in a sky clear of La7s.
Fly a Spitfire without shame. Your wife may stop winking at the mailman when she learns that you’re man enough to strap on an airplane that doesn’t have magic guns. (Ladies, you and your children will still be able to enjoy the pleasant qualities of this classic fighter that requires no special training to fly well.)
Try to change history. Was the 110 an iron dog deathtrap, or, flown correctly, was it really the king of the skies?
Accept the ultimate challenge: fly the 109E-4 effectively against the Spit I.
Or grab a friend, put him behind the tail gun of a Stuka, and sing “Bomben auf Engeland” together as you putter across the channel carrying your 1800 kg semi-nuclear bomb.
There’s something for everyone here, folks. Veterans, welcome back! Strangers, kick off your shoes, give the dog a bone, the kids an X-Box, the wife a carafe of wine and a chick flick DVD, and settle in for an enjoyable evening. Will there be blue birds over the white cliffs of Dover? Will Jimmy ever get to sleep in his little room again? Or will he stand atop the cliffs, bloody bits of feather littering the ground around him, watching unmolested Kriegesmarine tug boats push barges of helmeted storm troopers across the Channel?
It’s all in your hands now.
(Battle of Britain. A Combat Theater presentation, produced [this time] by 1Duke1. Participants are warned that guns do not work beyond 200 yards.)

Was the 110 an iron dog deathtrap,
No in that set up it wont be. Its a 110 with a DB601N engine. It was more rare then the Ta152...
Only 20 Bf 110C-4 were fitted with DB601N.
This total applies to both C-4 and C-4/B, even for the C-7 which was a "serialized" C-4/B. Only 7 out of 39 aircraft were equipped with DB601N.
Erprobungsgruppe 210, the fighter-bomber unit in 1940, flew several different variants of the Bf 110. The 'C-6', which 1. Staffel, ZG 1, brought with them upon redesignation to 1./Erpr. Gr. 210, had a 30 mm. MG 101 Kanone in place of the two 20 mm. Kanone. Stab and 2nd Staffel were equipped with Bf 110 D-0/Bs from the outset. As the BoB progressed, and replacement aircraft were issued to the unit, the 'D-0's started to be equipped with the uprated DB 601 N engine. However as late as 27 September 1940 there was evidence of the unit using a 'D' with a 601 A engine (Gruppenkommandeur Martin Lutz's S9+DH shot down at Tarrant Gunville on that date). In the later stages of the BoB, the unit were flying the new 'E' version, evidenced by it beginning to appear in the damage/loss lists. Also the unit recorded the loss of a Bf 110 C-7 in November. The 'C-7' was an earlier-version Bf 110, sent to a repair facility, outfitted with bomb racks, and re-designated as a 'C-7' variant. Hence you will find 'C-7's with W.Nr.
that relate to earlier sub-variant types. The bible on all of this is the Petrick/Mankau book:
'Bf110/Me210/Me410'.
A wonderful reference work for anyone with more than a passing interest in the Bf 110.
Pass this on to the LWhiners in the Ct. Its yet another example of wunderwaffe aircraft. Even the 109E-4 in AH runs at 1.40 ata which in the best case scenario was limited to 1 min but in reality I don't believe any were cleared for that ata during BoB.
Not to mention the Ju88 is an A-4. BoB variants were the A-1 and A-5 (A-5 being the A-4 airframe with the A-1 engines). Not to mention the Ju-87D3.
You can call it BoB if it makes you feel good but its fantasy like everything else... I am sure sure some lw guy some where will complain about some aspect of the set up. In the mean time I will do my best to poke the hornets nest...

FYI, the Ju88 has been removed from the setup. The only LW bomber is the Ju87 and the Brits have been given the SBD to substitute for the Skua. The SBD will give the Brits an attack capability without the even more out of place (than the Ju88) for '40 A-20 or Boston.

BoB rocks. :aok
-
BoB with no LW bombers...
lol thats even more hilarious then the other stuff I mentioned...
The Skua is no SBD btw... Its certainly much more capable then the Ju87. Hell its got 50 cals, it will be the best fighter in the game just like the TBM was when they used to give it to the allies...
I bet base capture is enabled...
-
If you guys want the Ju87 to see more usage, perk the Ju88A-4 a bit, don't remove it.
I'd suggest the D3A1 might be a better Skua sub than the SBD-5.

SBD's are going to be available from rear bases only, I dont expect to see any with a such a long flight. They were added to give the brits SOMETHING with bombs. Would you rather see A20's or Bostons like we have had in the past? In retrospect the Val probably would have been a better stand in for the Skua, but we will have to try that next time fi the SBD proves to be too much.
I bet base capture is enabled... [/B]
So you wont be flying with us this week then?

Is there a perfect flight sim somewhere , where all the anal-retentive whiners can go , toss-off to each other - and generally be happy ?

In a world at war. Is there anything besides the battle of briton?
Was there not a war in in pacific?
BoB is so lame and over used.
