Title: Spotlighting Scum
Post by: Nefarious on November 19, 2004, 09:07:56 PM
There at it again, I heard a shot last night around 1:00AM. Redneck A Holes are up in the Graveyard, Shooting at our neighborhood deers.

For one thing its not deer season, there in City Limits, at Night, Shooting from there car.

I can't understand why people hunt illegally, Can anybody explain why people do it? Do they just enjoy hunting so much they can't wait? Or they know that easiest deer to kill in the world live in my backyard? Are they doing it to earn something?

What is the value in poaching?

My advice is to set up a series of roadside bombs.  Or call the police or Fish and Wildlife Dept.

this happened Last Night, Local Police were off duty, State Police would have been about a half hour wait unless they were close. Believe me Mav, we have been to court over this, 1997, One of our neighbors, killed a deer in daylight, and dragged its carcus down our Street, Our dogs had to be dragged off of the deer, We called the police, and we testified in court. He was fined big time, and he ended up moving :D

They are rats with antlers, you should be thanking them for exterminating the vermin.

That really sucks. I have no idea of why people do these things.

They probably think their acts are protected by the Constitution.

I heard last night tha deer kill more people than drunk drivers, so you may have a point.

But we kill over a thousand deer per year on Wisconsin highways --- So we're doing a hell of a lot more damage than they are!

Look for who has the most expensive landscaping in your neighborhood, that's pry your man. In Chicago suburbs they just hire snipers, and feed the meat to Fruda types.

Seriously though, this picture is of the Grave yard that borders the West Side of our property.

The East Side is where all the houses are at.

To get a better perspective, I cross this gavel road every day I go to work. At night the herd likes to sit on either side of the gravel, I know this because at night I have to walk on the pavement, or I get busted shins, And I hear them snort and runaway when I approach.

The Poachers sit on the hill, almost seeing what I have pictured, they wait for them and then they hit the lights. I considering creating a spike stick, that I could place on my way home from work ;)

Looks like a nice sendero.  Do they set up clandistine feeders?

No. They don't use feeders, These deer are very friendly, And are not spooked easily.

These cheats probably get real drunk, grab the rifles, head up to the IOOF (International Order of the Oddfellows) Cemetary, pick up some more beer on the way. Park there car or truck on the hill, and shoot a deer when they see them.

Using a rifle? That can be dangerous in city limits no? I hear a rifle can kill over a mile?

Dude...you live in W. Virginia. I'm pretty sure that's totally legal there. Just be glad they're shootin' em and not datin' em. ;)

Q: Why are there so many unsolved murders in W. Virginia?

A: All the DNA matches and there are no dental records.

Can't speak about your local rubes motives...but some of our locals poach for various reasons.

Some are genuinely poor and do it to supplement their larders.

Others do it for the kind of kicks one gets from tweaking the nose of authority.

Some just get a craving for wild meat.

Still others poach deer and then give the meat away.

Predation is a natural and necessary part of nature.  Currently, there isn't enough hunting pressure to keep the deer herd from expanding.  Arkansas' whitetail population has boomed from a low of 1,000 at the start of the 20th century to a high today of over 1 million animals.  Collisions with vehicles have skyrocketed.

Three people were killed about 400 yards from my front door in a vehicle accident caused by a deer crossing the highway.

Simple solution really Nefari, just put razor blades all around the edges of the deer, that'll teach those poachers when they're tryin to drag em down the street!!

Im not saying these nighttime hunters are right. In fact I'd have to agree they are wrong.

 But

You move to redneck country then complain about the rednecks?.

This is like people that move to the mountains then get upset the bear get into their trash and the dear, rabbits and other wildlife ravage their vegitable garden.

Or these other folks out west that move next to a cattle ranch then complain about the cattle.

Or the utter idiots a couple towns over from me that move a block away from Raceway Park (local drag racing strip) then comaplain about the sound of the dragsters.

Just what did you think you were going to find?

My feeling is. if you dont want to deal with rednecks. Dont move to redneck country. Dont wanna deal with wildlife, You dont move to the mountains, you dont wanna deal with Cattle you dont move next to a ranch.

And if you dont want to deal with the sound of racecars. you sure as hell dont move next to a racecar track.

My feeling is the  culture, customs and traditions of the pre existing indigenous population probably goes back hundreds of years.

When people move into  areas like these they should and expect to have to adjust to the way the area is and not expect the area to adjust to them

Not the other way around

As is a part of this countries problem is now as a whole

People come in and we are expected to adapt to them and not them to us.

Huh Dreidiock?

"My feeling is the culture, customs and traditions of the pre existing indigenous population probably goes back hundreds of years."

I can see it now. "Two feathers, get in the truck. Standing Bear, grab the spot light. We are goin' pit lamping tonight."

While you do have a point that it is bunk to expect everyone else to conform to your standard of living (in the cases you mentioned of moving next door to a race track or the bears in the trash) some things are just not okay.

Pit lamping deer falls right into that category. Deer are dumb enough as is without being stunned by lights.

And hunting in a graveyard? Do they have to put up signs or make laws so people know that they prolly shouldnt be using a burial ground as a recreational area?

Sometimes it is okay to mess up the routine and habits of an existing population. If you moved next door to a person who was fond of cranking his taste of music up to window rattling volume at 3 in the morning would you sit back and say "he was here first?"
 Hell no.

If someone goes out near your home all tanked up discharging firearms in a graveyard using spot lights poaching deer are you gonna sit back and say "awww aint that cute, them rednecks are at it again"

Hell no.

I'd be more worried about what they are thinking about using as a backstop, the house in the background ?
