Title: Victory Message Numbers?

What is the meaning of the "Victory #" in the message window of the game?  i.e. "Victory 8 for Blowfish".  These numbers do not seem to match the current number of kills!

Victory 1, your first kill that sortie.

Victory 2, your second kill that sortie.

Victory 3, your third kill that sortie.

And so on, until you die or land and exit your plane. It restarts only if you replane. If you land, refuel/rearm, and take off again- then it keeps going.

Ah, I thought it was odd that I was seeing Kill 10 by X, but if you can land inbetween kills, then that makes sense. Mind you, I usually only get one kill in an evening...
