Title: Flashing Shadows
Post by: mason22 on November 21, 2004, 06:27:33 PM
not sure if this is driver related or a bug....

but, upgraded my nvidia drivers to 66.93 and shadows now "flash" or flicker from normal to white.

i upgraded because "Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0c and OpenGL® 1.5 support " (released Nov 9)

Was it working fine before the driver upgrade and was it all on the same patch/version of AH?

yes, it was working correctly before the driver upgrade on the latest patch.

hence i assume it's the driver issue, but just guessin.

also, if you go to external view, and go directly above the AC (perpindicular to the ground, as you are looking down on the AC) the flashing stops. all other angles it starts to flash.

Try the 61.77 drivers mason.  The 7x.xx drivers are pretty much for the FX6xxx cards.

What Skuzzy said.  Anything beyond 61.77 is pretty much wasted if you have an FX 5xxx series card.  All the 66.xx and up drivers are for the newer cards and cause some funky issues in older 5xxx series cards.

any benefit, or do you guys think it's worth trying out the Omega drivers? vs the 61.xx ?

I use the Omega driver 61.77, I have found it to be very stable and provided a mild fps increase over the stock Nvidia drivers.  That could be due to other changes I made though, so I wont make that as a claim.
