Both of these things are missed by most. Even the lil towns that we would fight over like on Festers map.
Now we have nothing but trees....and no sheep in sight.
The smooth soft pastures that once hid Goons are now long gone.
Please bring these back into the game... it added excitement to the game.
BTW we miss the squid and the foo fighters, the UFO's. All the hidden things that made it enjoyable.
Please reconsider and bring these back. Please.
Respectfully,

Would love to see this.
Then again, I'd love to be able to pay to fly (damn bars)

Isn't this true also for the CT maps?

Tank town dosn't exist simply because we do not have an object that will function like the old one did.
Im currently working on the object editor that will alow tank town type items to be constructed again by players. It will also import .x files so players can make there own objects and complete 3d tiles.

Nite time was waste of time and programming. most didnt like it
and gamed it with gama changes to make it day time, or simply logged off for an hour.
-
i LOVED night time.
the game is 50% worse without it.
you want realism or you want easy kills?
surely you can program a gamma fix to stop the dweebs.
maybe as night time closes but discrete daisies and other poncey flowers on peoples planes so any gamma potatos can see how pathetic they are.
-
No to night time.
Night time was log time for a huge part of the paying customer base.
-
I agree, no full night time, but bring tank town back whenever the new object/editor is finished.

Daytime turns me off, and I don't mean maybe
Nine-to-five ain't taking me where I'm bound
When it's done, I run out to see my baby
We get groovin' when the sun goes down
I thank the Lord for the night time
To forget the day
A day of up-, uptight time
Baby, chase it away
I get relaxation
It's a time to groove
I thank the Lord for the night time
I thank the Lord for you
I'll talk about plans now, baby, I got plenty
Nothing ever seems turn out the way it should
Talk about money, girl, I ain't got any
Seems like just one time I'm feelin' good
I thank the Lord for the night time
To forget the day
A day of up-, uptight time
Baby, chase it away
I get relaxation
It's a time to groove
I thank the Lord for the night time
I thank the Lord for you

Every member of my squad laments the removal of night from the MA.
We've had many discussions during operations. 10 out of 10 active members are left with the impression that nighttime was removed to appease a vocal minority on the boards who would prefer high-noon furballing. That may be somewhat simplified but it fits in one sentance and describes the squad member's view of the situation. This sim is so much more than an AW-style fighter town.
So, we have 10 votes here for the revival of night in the MA.

Yup find a way of disabling the gamma adjustment and bring it back.
A nice furball with night/intruder skins would be awesome.
-
to all you guys who want nighttime back:
How did you guys fly and fight in complete darkness? (without gamma adjusting)
All I remember is that full night time use to last about 20-25 mins and there use to be about a 75% player drop.
-
Night please...and some weather wouldn't hurt...the odd cloud..perhaps.
-
Night Rocks! Try it offline it really looks fantastic. If people choose to just turn their gamma up and therby they dont have to deal with it well that sounds good to me. I just remembered some fun 110 NOE raids pre-dawn that were out of this world in terms of fun by the guys in the mission. SomeOne should post a pic off the night in offline. I would but dont know how
-
I liked night time. I would up my black JU88's and go bomb some terget or other while the nme was trying to figure out what was hapening.
But if you won't bring night back atleast bring back the clouds. It's great to pop in and out of the clouds on furball island with my B26's. :D

thought I settled this already
Most,
there IS NO MOST
Everyone stop making claims of "most".
because "most" of the time its a false statement
"Many" is more accurate
Many people enjoyed night, many people hated night, many people didnt care one way or the other.
and just for the record "MOST" people did NOT log off during night. Some did yes but not MOST.
I've never seen more then half the arena leave for any other reason then a mass boot.
And I've never seen MOST people complain or be pro on anything.
What I have seen is the same people saying the same things both pro and con, over and over and over and over again which makes it seem like there are far more then there are.
so everyone STOP WITH THE "MOST"!
Sorry for the rant.
Just a peeve of mine
You may now return to your irregularly schedualed programming

But it's true.
Most people did hate night.
It's like electricity Dredidock. You can't "see" electricity, but you don't have to see it to know that electricity exists.
You don't have to count MA numbers or take polls to know that night time sucks.
It hampers with normal operations in everyway. The night time operations is hardly a regular alternative because there's no such thing as a real "night" in AH. People just crank up their gamma and go looking for dar dots and icons. There's no merit to night except it makes fights frustrating due to lack of visibility.
Nothing changes at night.
So, if you guys want night, just wear real dark sunglasses while playing AH. That's basically the same thing as flying AH "nights", while others crank up gamma and brightness - the only blind guy around when everyone else is using night vision goggles.

Bunk,
I've actually paid attention to the complaints moans and groans in the game of the people that play over night time (even had the numbers written down somewhere for a while for just this arguement)
And while I dont remember the exact number off hand.
The only ones I've seen complain about it in the game consist of MAYBE the same 20-30 people incessantly complaining about it over and over and over again.
Same thing with the people arguing for night the same ones arguing back and forth.
What your talking about it a matter of opinion if it sucks or not.
For you and many others it does.
And for many others it doesnt.
In no way shape or form would I claim that either side had a majority.
I read fully most of your posts, and most of your thoughts and Ideas I agree with.
This isnt one of them
-
I think you'll find "I" is the missing word /letter,from most of these posts.
I would like night/weather/ Desert maps, and snowscapes...and clouds good for for goon pilots.
Oh and the only wind in aces high comes 180 degees and very hot straight off these bbs;)
-
NO to night time. its bad for gameplay and its unhistorical
-
night for 30 mins...nothing long just something to mix things up a little bit.
People that speak for the "most" or whatever really shouldnt. I dont believe you can speak for the community.
Granted some complained but some loved it.

I think this statement/question illustrates the views of the many people who dislike night: This is representative of the furball-centric pilot contingent. I'll answer the question above in two parts. First, it is very easy to fly at night if you can fly in the daytime. There was no change to the flight model when the sky got dark (as far as I could tell). Second, it is possible to "fight" in a tank, in bombers, and in attack aircraft at night. I would go as far to say that night time makes these kinds of fighting even more effective. I suspect that what you really want to know is how to dogfight in furballs at night. That one is easy. Stay above your target and their silhouette will always be visible against the ground. Oh, and don't fight over water =)
All I remember is that full night time use to last about 20-25 mins and there use to be about a 75% player drop.

Hehe hehehehe hehehehehe
Night time is not historical? It's been around a long time. :D
I could go on with this quote for awhile, but seriously, how can you possibly say night time fighting is not historical? As for "bad for gameplay", thats your opinion. Plenty of folks enjoy it, and therefore it is GOOD for their gameplay. I rather enjoy it myself, although at first I hated it, just because it was difficult. Now that I'm a little more comfortable with the FM I enjoy the challenge and would welcome night time back.
-
Best part i enjoyed about night time was trying to land my kills
and killing at night time i found was much easier, just aim below icon and @100 out,you can't miss :)

anyone who says they couldnt fight in this, should give us a few good reasons why 'this' level of visibility is not acceptable.
-
It's gotten to the point where I don't care if some skill lacking dweebs want to turn up their gamma to get off at night. I want to fly in the night.
-
mechanic those screenies are exactly why i don't like night. I can't see a sodding thing- all i see is tracers. I don't know how bright other peoples monitors are but all i see is black with some tracers and the moon. I don't know how night is for others, but for me i can't see anything. I cannot make out the sky from the floor. The level of visibillity is none.
I don't get any enjoyment from not being able to see anything to shoot at.
-
If night looks that dark to you then your gamma settings are probably off to begin with. Either due to incorrect settings when first set up or due to age.
Probably due to age as these things do tend to degrade naturally over time. I know thats what it was in my case. Actually I didnt realise just how bad it had gotten until I got a new monitor
Adjusted properly Nighttime should look almost like during a Harvest moon where you can almost read a newspaper by moonlight.
the adjustments needed in the pics above arent even that much.
just a notch or two would make a major difference.
-
Another vote for night time and tank town. I miss the nights :(
and HTC.. considering we are PAYING MONTHLY for this online game, please consider it.
-
Pics look great. I agree if they are that dark on your computer your gamma isnt set properly in the 1st place. who cares if a few people turn their gamma up and then they dont have to "put up with it" sounds like a great way for those that dont want it to put up with it.
-
Yes your gama was out of wack in those pics on my comp Night is fine you can see the ground enuf that you can avoid hitting it (though the trees can be tricky) as they should be at night.
If people want to turn their gamma up so be it, why must we always have the sun glaring in our face????
-
Does anyone know how in ww11 it was setup to land?
radio guide and temp. lights on the runway?
-
Night would be a Godsend for Goon pilots,on caped bases..bring it back..if you don't like it,brew up,and come back when you've calmed down. ;)
-
Night is good. added a bit of realism and rquired new tactics. If they re introduced it though, airfields ought to have flare paths lit up as freindly aircraft approached. We need clouds back and a winter map. The game is getting a bit samey. samey equals dull after a while. If furballing is all people play for then a daytime only no weather night etc arena should be set up for those that want this.
I play to fly as well as fight. If i wanted an arcade type game I'd find one.

If you bother to check my stats (user: jpeg) you'll see I'm not a furballer (yes I enjoy a furball now and then).
You didn't really answer my question though. How do you expect someone to attack a structure with lets say rockets or bomb fighter hangars and fuel/ammo/barrack resources if they can't even see them?
As far as the data source, data source is me and all the people who would leave. That's why HTC decided to, or at least my guess is based on these facts, get rid of the full night.
Unfortunatly I don't have access to exact statistics from HTC, but I do remember the numbers in the roster dropping more than half once full night time would occur.

that is complete and total crock.
NEVER have numbers dropped by half or more for any single reason other then mass boot or server crash
And HTC got rid of night to and I quote "Put the whines on the other side of the fence for a while" and that was the only reason he gave.
the two claims you just made are blatently untrue and nothing more then utter fabrication
If you couldnt see the buildings and structures, your gamma setting are probably off to begin with
-
I always *hated* night. What was the point? Thirty minutes where you could not see well? Gamma correction is either a 'crutch' or a 'feature' depending on who you listen to. Anytime I logged on and it was night, I immediately logged off.
Maybe if night lasted... well.. all night... that would be different. I would still *hate* it, but it would be different. Anyone think it might be more fun for the GV group?
Maybe if AH had night fighters that would be an option. I would still *hate* night though.
Regards,
Malta
p.s. Did I mention I *hated* night?

A large percentage of people never do set up their monitors correctly. It goes from the box to the grave never once being setup right. Unless your monitor is set corrrectly neither night (or screen shots of it) will display corrrectly.
There are others, but this is the best http://www.displaymate.com/
