Just read an article by the late Mark Hanna and Capt. Eric Brown on the 109G10.
Grabbed the Flight Journal Special Issue on German Fighters. One of my squadies Khyron forwarded the info.

IMHO Worth the money!
Flew mock combat 109G10 against the P51D. Interesting results. Also reports on the spit vs 109.
Ya I know the G10 we have is kinda a cross between the later G models and the K.
Also had some excellent articles on several other planes. 190 vs f6f and f4u.
190D13, HE111 pilot, Strumstaffel pilot Oscar Boesch.
Good articles!

Did you see the write up on AH?
-
Ya not bad but I think it's older and didn't talk about AHII.
-
Pyro has said that the G-10 in AH is really a K-4 except that they added the 20mm option which the K-4 didn't have. They called it a G-10 and skinned it as such.
So its not a mix of performances, just an added gun load out.

we need to make this a stikky since alot of LW dweebs keeps asking for the K4

The G-10 in AH is basically a K-4. The reason the G-10 was chosen over the K-4 is because the K-4 had standardized the armament to the MK 108 while the G-10 allows you the choice between that and the MG 151/20.

Scroll down until you see Pyro's post...
fyi the AH G-10 default skin is the G-10 of that of Hptm. Franz Wienhusen IV./JG 4.
According to Butch
in March 1945 only two units of the Luftflotte 6 both equipped with G-10 were using C3, one being IV/JG 4 the other being II/JG 11, and no K-4 units at all.
So this G-10 could have been using C-3 fuel and run at 1.98 ata.
So its performance would be slightly better then a typical K-4...

I had one absolutely deny that the AH Bf109G-10 could hit 450mph in level flight. He insisted that it topped out around 425mph and that we needed the Bf109K-4 to be fair to the Luftwaffe. I told him he was wrong and to go test it so he got snide about how much he flies German aircraft all the time and I don't. I then went and tested it again. I think I got 451mph out of it in level flight.
The Bf109K-4 is one of the most common requests and one of the most pointless.
-
I want it for the 151/15s in the cowl.
-
If you can get it to hit 450-2 please post your film. I have tried many times and never achieved that speed.
Just for comparisons sake the IL2/FB K-4 hits 447 mph according to IL2 compare.
The G-10 does 434mph...
Roughly at 6000m (19685 ft) for both...
What's the best alt and speed for the AH2 G-10?
I don't have AH installed anymore so I can't check myself...
My opinion would be to leave the G-10 / K-4 alone and add a G-14. It would have the same speed as the G-6 except at wep (it had MW-50). It saw service in June '44 as opposed to Oct for the G-10 or March '45 for the G-10 with C3 fuel.

lol better check up on that pongo, no mg151/15 mm would fit in the cowl of a 109.... If your source is Green then he was mistaken.
It had 13mm just like the G-10....

I think he was being ironic.
One thing we could use from the K4 are the flettner tabs on the ailerons which would help high speed roll rate.
As for the article mentioned at the start of this thread, the comparison between restored P51D and a restored Bf109G10 made several conclusions.
1) P51 is better at high speed handling and if it keeps fast should do well against Bf109G10. This is represented in AH very well.
2) Bf109G10 has better roll rate at lower speeds. This is not so in AH.
3) Bf109G10 turns better at lower speeds. This is not so in AH.
4) Bf109G10 is more stable at lower speeds. This is not so in AH.

Conspiracy!
151/15s! we are being oppresed!

And the Mk103, I want it too :D

while i don't think MK103 was ever in any operational combat aircraft, y'all maybe could ask for the MK103's ancestor, the MK101, in a 110c-6.
-
Hmmm.......
OK, if our G10 is really a K4 then it probably turns and rolls more like a K4.
So our G10/K4 flight model is probably fairly accurate.
Are the tabs modeled? I know under certain conditions the G10 can really roll.
Just my thoughts on it.
-
There was no more than 200 K-4s fitted with aileron tabs. (via Butch2k)
One has to ask, if they were that great why were not more a/c not fitted with them? One reason I have seen is that they were sensitive for small corrections.

Robert Adams fan??????

Milo is correct Flettner Tabs weren't as common as some portray. I don't think we need another 100 post thread to revisit this issue..
