Had a 17" TFT monitor, and games ran really good without any lag at all at 1024X768 res.
And today i borrowed a 21" CRT from work, and the games run as crap on it :(
I have installed the correct driver for the 21" monitor, Checked the refresh rate, its supposed to run at 75hz or 85hz, i get the same "screen lag" at both refresh rate settings..
I even lowered the resuloution in game to 800x600 but it still wont run smooth?
I also lowered my desktop res to 800X600.
Any ideas?
I understand that my graphics card have to push mory polys to a bigger screen... So can it be that my computer cannot handle it?
As i said earlier, i had no problems with the smaller 17" TFT...
Any help would be appriciated.
Edit : heres the monitor http://www.dealsdepot.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/1325854/vpcsid/0/SFV/14930

The 'response time' is probably too high for gaming, which is not surprising as such big screen are usually designed for CAD work and the like.
Be aware that the 'repsonse time' parameter can be misleading. You may want to check this thread: LCD monitors (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122454)

DeSelys, it's a CRT, not LCD.
Probably your video card/system being short on horsies.

LOL, PWN3D!!
I definitely need some sleep...

Ok, thx, but as i said, i ran games at 1024 res with the 17" monitor without problems, and when i run games at 800X640 res with the 21" i still get graphics "stutters".
I will fiddle around with refresh rates a bit more, it turns out that the monitor support refresh rates up to 120mhz...
Could this be a Vsync issue?

Did that allready.
I also have tried with V-sync on, no joy :(

When you installed the new video drivers you uninstalled the old ones first? I assume you already did this but just checking.

This is really strange indeed Maniac. I always thought the resolution determined these things, so that if you run a CRT or LCD at the same res the framerate should also be the same
Are you sure the monitor is ok?

Dunno, its 4-5 yrs old... It got alot better when i changed "filtering" from Trilinear to Bilinear.
Dunno what thats about, but its alot better with Bilinear..

All I know is that my framerates is the same when I use my LCD and CRT with the same resolution when i connect my laptop to them.
Do you connect your LCD to the cuter with a DVI cable? If so there may be some settings to tweak on your card depending on that but I have no idea.
-
yea did you set it up as a secondary monitor or is it the primary???
When i have my tv set up as secondary i get some lag vs going to my primary monitor . i ussually have to refresh my video settings to get it to clear up .
-
you're probably getting a conflict with your old monitor somewhere. changing the filtering from tri to bilinear is just applying a bandaid to a bullet wound im afraid - changing monitors shouldnt affect framerate unless youre running at higher res

Solved it!
Im a happy now lol!
It had to do with synchronosation (sp?), I had to reset the synch setting in XP and after that it runs just fine! I can use trileniar filtering and run at 1024 res without any "screen stutters" any more!
Woot!
