After a few days I must say, it is me not the stick that made me say the X52 sucked. Im actually getting used to it after just a few days. Once i get all the buttons programmed and used to them Im sure I'll love it. Still feels wobbly but that will come too I imagine. So if you have one coming for Christmas, and my previos post discouraged you..fear not...unless you used a FFb stick for years you'll love it..and if you did use ffb give it time.

Mine should be here wihin the comeing week. I liked The feel of it in the store.
It will be good to give my 2 year old Cyborg 3d a rest it is geting rather beat up but still works like a charm.:)

A wee story from Friday:
In order to ensure that my Christmas is "happy and bright" I called Saitek to see if the X52 is available in retail stores in Toronto as the wife is going there December 8th to do most of our shopping. (A pox on the strong Canadian dollar right now btw).
I could not reach ANYONE on the phone.
I figured Thursday was the public holiday and that I should be able to reach someone.
No luck.
So...I call the UK office. Sales dept not answering...tech support line costing me a fortune while on hold.
So, I try the "Personel" department, which was my last option available to me.
I get a very nice lady on the phone and I quickly apologise and tell her what I am looking for...she takes my name and number and says someone will call me back. "Yeah...right" says I, but I give her the number.
About 10 minutes later I get a call from one of the managers in the sales dept. Incredibly helpful fellow. He apologised for me not being able to reach anyone in the US or Canada, but explained there is not a Canadian office in North America and that any calls are routed to the US. He also explained that Saitek had closed their offices on the Friday for Thanksgiving.
He then said he would chase up the sales guys in California on Monday to see if the X52 was available in Canada, where my wife needs to go and how much it will cost. He gave me his name and his direct line to follow up with him in case he doesn't call...but he assured me he would. I believe him, oddly enough, but now I can chase him up if I need to.
As a backup he has already found where I can get the stick in the UK as I can have my step-sister bring it from there (but an even greater pox on the strength of the British pound  ).
One way or another I will have my preciousssssssss.
Big thumbs up for the Saitek manager I spoke to...he saved the company a customer.
:aok

have to think positive when your island could fall into the sea at any moment...
as for sticks, couldent possibly imagine using one unless it had the general look and feel of this:

Never imply that you know what a “latex dildo on a ball-point pen spring, being held by a "queereye" fella” feels like.

I have the X45, with a few adjustments and programing both stick and throttle buttons, I love it.
Graduating from a SideWinder, I *really* like the concept of using 2 hands.
I'm sure the X52 is better and I'll probably pick one up, soon as I build a faster machine, first.
When I first got the X45, I was a little hesitant towards liking it but it grew on me fast. I ended up using the two top draws in my desk, and building some 1x8 wood boards (2 about 18" long) to fasten to the top of an open drawer. They were made to slide inward or outward, I just used some wood block guides and all it did was sit on top of an open drawer. Once I had those I glued 1/2" medium-high density foam, used for road cases, with contact cement, and then mounted the sticks over the foam so it was a nice soft feel when I rocked them.
In other words, foam/cushion mounted sticks, on two boards, straddling the top right and left drawers. It truely works perfect, especialy the height at elbo forarm level.
When I want to fly I just slid the stick in over my legs, and when I didn't want to fly I'd push them back out so I could use my KB and an open desk top.
Doing this with the X45 really added to the immersion, all I need now is a set of pedals under the desk where my feet go and I'm so there.
I'll prolly replace the X45 with the 52.

Hello you cutting edge x52 guys -- how is the nose bounce on the new stick? I switched from a microsoft stick to the x45 because of nose bounce and have found the x45 to be quite accurate and bounce free. I ran across the x52's at compusa the other day and now I am wondering if I need a new stick....just because....
thx, bock
