Title: My Cousins Scratchbuilt Cockpit...Pics
Post by: Nefarious on November 27, 2004, 09:47:31 PM
Just kidding, it isnt my cousins, but it is property of his Venture Scout Troop. His father convinced LockheedBoeing to donate it to the Scout Troop. The cockpit is the official Protoype cockpit of the JSF, once they selected the design, they had to build all new Cockpit Sims so the protoype was just collecting dust. Unfortunatley no pics of the intstruments, but it has touch screen glass displays and all the works, with a Martin Baker Ejection Seat, and working cockpit actuator.

Here in the pics My Cousin Joe rigs his desktop up with FS2004 and the JSF Mod for FS2004. Pics were taken at Tinker AFB Air Show this last summer. They haul it around on a small trailer, My Cousin Joe is big into Sims, and is in the Air Force ROTC program in High School, I beleive he plans on attending the academy when he graduates. His dad said he and his friends play all sort of Sims, possibly Aces High.

I never really liked Boyscouts, or Eagle Scouts or what ever...

Every single one I have met, at a reenactment at a Jazz Festival, at a Fall Festival, is Disrespectful, annoying, and won't listen to the guy dressed in modern day camo, doing security..

Boyscouts are not that good here in FL, very disrespectful, pass it on if yah like, maybe it will change..

That shoulda be donated to a museum..

don't want to piss on the thread or anything but that doesn't look anything like a martin baker ejection seat.  it does however, look like the top of an ACES II

Just thaught it was interesting because I KNOW the JSF is going to have an MB Mk16E

He should use X-Plane in it. It has a JSF which is definately more realistic than the one in FS.

I was going to say the same thing Furball but I was hoping if we ignored the little one he would just go away like a bad rash.

Youre probably right Gunslinger. Its also not a live Ejection Seat, its a demo version. Most of the components in the Protoype Cockpit are from an actual F-16. I beleive my uncle said that the Joystick and throttle controls were from a Falcon. I will keep you guys updated on any events where the simulator plans on attending, My Cousin lives in Oklahoma.

Leave all the Scout Comments at the door Please.

If its for the F16 it isn't a Martin Baker seat...they have the Navy contracts, not AF.

but he is home schooled, he probably has no friends to take the piss out of him.

maybe we can help in his childhood education by taking the piss instead of them.

I think what he's saying is that it was built using F16 mock up parts.  To me even from the distance the seat in the sim. is an aces II.  You can tell by the downward facing pito tubes coming off the top of the headreast and the looping gas hose.  That is unmistakably the ballistic quick disconnect gas hose.

(it's kinda kewl when you can actually talk about what you know in here :) )

The JSF is probably too new still to have mock up parts that they are willing to give away.  This was probably a "concept" mock up.

but don't get me wrong it's cool none the less.  We use very simulare things as egress trainers in real life for all sorts of air frames.

Correct Gun,

This Simulator was made for the JSF Prototype.

When the JSF won the contract, They had to build all new simulators. So the Prototype Simulator went to storage, And they began working on the new simulators, Which are identical to what the JSF will look like when it enters service.
