i got the idea that you can control an ack(don't laugh). Can someone tell if that's true or not and if so, how? ;)

Yes you can....as long as they havent been destroyed. Go to hangar and select Field or Ship gunner. It will show you all the mannable guns at a base. Some are 37mm acks and some are shore battery guns. I believe they show up orange or something if they are already manned, but just select an open gun and then hit the "H" in the lower left part of the clipboard to man the gun.

how do you select a field (or ship) gunner? Do you go to hanger?

yup, you go to the hangar on the field or CV. You'll need to close your clipboard, and you'll see the "map" of possible guns to be manned. On the field, you'll see 37mm and maybe shore batteries. In the CV group, you'll see ship outlines and mannable positions on those.
Color coding... Red means that position is manned. Yellow means that position is not manned. Green means you're manning that position.
Hope this helps, and have fun with the field ack! It's great!
