sounds like an implication to me.
Giambi admitted taking steroids
....Giambi said he had queried Anderson about Bonds' workout and health regimens.
"So I started to ask him: 'Hey, what are the things you're doing with Barry? He's an incredible player. I want to still be able to work out at that age and keep playing,' " Giambi testified. "And that's how the conversation first started." ......
-
Got news for ya- if they banned every player who yook steroids we'd be back to eight teams in eaxh league again.
-
Good, the league needs better pitching,
and maybe players like Bonds wouldn't get 100 million based on "performance" which raises the ticket prices.
-
baseball is teh ghey

As a longtime Baseball Fan, and somewhat of a Historian, this tarnishes the game imho. The ME ME ME ME generation has finally arrived LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!! Aren't I great!!!
Giambi should and I hope will lose his salary and contract with the Yankees. As much as I dislike the Yankees they bought a product under false pretenses. This is in some circles known as "fraud." One can compare it to purchasing a used car with a bad transmission. Transmission is filled with a high viscosity liquid to mask it's condition. Month later car is put into gear and does not move. I see no differences between these two instances.
As to Barry Bonds...I've watched him as a rookie in Pittsburgh until now. He used to weigh around 180 lbs and a normal season for him was in the 20 to low 30 HR range. Now..at 40 or just over, I'm looking for the air valve on his body where they inflate him before the game! At that age....how did he improve that greatly? Peak year for a baseball player or any athlete is in his early 30s'......this guy is blasting home runs with more regularity then I can remember.
Records are made to be broken....we all understand that. But doing it illegally not only hurts the game....but the individual who is taking doses to falsley strengthen his body will probably pay dearly later in life with a myriad of health problems. Is it worth it?
I don't think so....and I do hope the youngsters out there that play sports and dream of a pro career don't emulate these idiots for a quick fix.
For now...and even IF Bonds breaks Aarons record....to me Aaron will be the all time HR King......and Ruth probably the greatest player of the game chiefly because not only was he the most feared left handed power hitter in the game....he was the most successful left handed pitcher in the game. Whitey Ford didn't break Ruths' scoreless innings pitched in a world series until 50 years later Not to mention Ruth literaly saved baseball singlehandedly...due the the Black Sox scandal. People weren't going to the park....until Ruth arrived. The most amazing thing about Ruth is that after 1921...I believe everytime he hit a homerun he was breaking the record....the one that he set....and finished at 714.
Bonds....may hit more homeruns, but won't be mentioned in the same breath with Aaron or Ruth.
By the way....Giambi testified that he got his steroids from Bonds trainer....gee......wonder if Bonds got them also lol.
The fact that Giambi got his steroids from Bonds Trainer was reported on ESPN. That's where I received the info.

Oooooooh, over the line!
Anyways, I bet this admission will have a dominoe effect. Anyone associated with the group could go down. I bet Montgomery will lose his record by association.

Just to play devils advocate a bit here, you really cant say that these earlier sports stars were not on something. Now granted we would like to believe that they didnt take performance enhancing drugs but a couple things to remember. Alot of Methenphatamines were not considered illegal untill the mid 1900s and alot of people used them. So you cant say that these guys who set all these records were not on something that could have helped them. But like I said im just playing devils advocate here.

Steroids have become the norm for many sports. There is a way around the tests... theres always a way. But sooner or later it will come back to bite you. In highschool they were all over. Kids 18 years old were juicing and getting bigger and bigger with every passing week and making the "300 club" their freashmen year (300 club is a list that you get on when you bench 300)...
Fast forward to college...
Its the same as highschool, only now they know how to work out more efficiently, get every bang for their buck from each needle.
The few kids that I have seen get pulled out of my collage that went pro or were otw to being pro were massive. They juiced... My point is, I doubt there's many pro-players out there that haven't shot up at one point or another.
Oh and did i mention the prices are dropping everyday on the chit...?

He's going to lose his life- he has liver or brain cancer, depending upon your source. If you have freshman kids juicing up just to make the Varsity it stands to reason you'll have professional atheletes juicing up to win a 70 million dollar contract.

Then you will like this, a good read.
And by the way my house seats in the infield where this park once was.

THE “LITTLE WORLD SERIES” Attleboro vs. North Attleboro:1919-1920: And a Cast of Thousands
How would you have liked to have seen a World Series that featured, Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth, George Sisler, Hank Gowdy, Rogers Hornsby, Dave Bancroft, Carl Mays, Joe Judge, Rabbit Marranville, Jim Thorpe, Rube Marquard, Heinie Zimmerman, Frankie Frisch, Wally Schang, Stuffy McInness, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Zach Wheat, Eddie Collins, Bucky Harris, “Jumping” Joe Dugan, Harry Hooper, “Irish” Bob Meusel, Harry Heilmann, Everett Scott, etc. Impossible you say, it never could have happened! Well, it did & you could have seen it if you had lived in Attleboro & North Attleboro in 1919-1920. It all came about because of Dan O’Connell, & local businessmen with big, big bankrolls.

Some cool stories from baseballs earlier days.
Walter Johnson (The BIg Train) pitched his first game in the Pros against the feared Detroit Tigers, a team that included Ty Cobb.
Johnson had a very deceptive easy side arm motion when throwing the ball....judging by what you saw of his arm speed one would think the ball wouldn't be blazing fast.
During his warmups before the first inning.....the Detroit bench was licking it's chops to get at the Rookie. They were riding him, telling him what they would do to him that day during his first start.
Can't remember exactly to which batter in the lineup this was, but he went to the plate.....ball goes by him like a rocket....STRIKE ONE! called the Umpire.....batter takes a few practice swings...says to self...wow....kid pretty fast....steps into the box...pitch delivered to the plate.....batter barely hears something go by...STRIKE TWO! Batter turns around and walks to dugout....Umpire yells Hey! You've got another one coming!
Batter says to Umpire "You take it.....it won't do me any good."
Story about the great Rogers Hornsby of the St. Louis Cardinals who hit .400 three times and hit as many as 40 HRs' a season during the 20's and early 30s' Again....this story involves a Rookie pitcher making his first start.
Mr. Hornsby steps into the batters box......sets himself up for the first pitch. Rookie makes a good pitch he thinks catches the outside corner of the plate. Ball One.....Rookie says to himself well...maybe...delievers his second pitch....looked better then first....Ball Two! Rookie shakes head...looks momentarily in at Umpire as to say...Where was that pitch? Rookie bares down....throws what he thinks is surely a strike Umpire says Ball Three! Rookie....flustered walks towards the Umpire who is removing his mask to meet with Rookie. Rookie says...At least two of those balls were strikes, you want me to toss it underhanded? Umpire says to Rookie "Son, Mr. Hornsby will let you know when the pitch is a strike."

true. But think about it. maybe that wouldnt be such a bad thing.
With the lack of all these so called superstars, Salaries would drop tremendously And perhaps make going to a game an affordable family activity again. Instead of making it affordable only to corporations and those with deep pockets
In essence the league wold get a do over and bring along players kids can actually look up to again.
Not that the owners would do such an honorable thing.
But they would have the opportunity to.

Bonds may face perjury charges for lying under oath about "not using Steroids". That would fantastic; the puke should go to jail.
The fans in San Fran should file a class action law suit against the Bonds and the league for using and allowing the use of steroids, on the grounds that his salary is reflective of his "performance” and therefore so are the ticket prices.
-
Bonds never took steriods...And neither did Carl "Mr Clean" Lewis.
Just think if they introduced drug testing in "Professional Wrestling"

JBA!
Thanks for the link....great story...I saved and printed it.

Tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) should be renamed TetrahydroGIAMBI.

I think all major league sports folks should be on steroids. It's entertainment. If bigger, faster, stronger folks make it more entertaining, then I am all for it.

I agree with furious.
And with all the damage they do to thier body, they can use their huge payment contracts to buy new body parts.
