I learned that I'm not a fumble-fingered idiot. Aircraft handling in AH takes practice.
I learned that landing without your gear down is a bad thing.
I learned that having trainers in the game is a good thing.
I learned that there are some good people in the game that are willing to help out a noob.
I learned that there are some good people in the game that are willing to shoot a noob's bellybutton off.
I learned that both of these can teach you a lot.
I learned that a higher monthly subscription fee seems to keep the l337 griefer count to a minimum.
I learned that, given pilots of equal skill, the plane that is easier to fly is usually easier to shoot down.
I learned that taking off and heading to the nearest furball is NOT a plan, and can get your country wiped off the map if you aren't extremely lucky.
I learned that there are never enough goons to go around (or panzers, or flak wagons, or M3's).
I learned that without those ground forces, you can have the greatest pilots in the air and still get nothing accomplished for your country.
I learned that, just when you begin to count on Roger Wilco, something will happen to prevent you from using it ("Roger Wilco cannot connect to IP xx.xx.xxx.xxx").
I learned that climbing to 20K in a P47 takes a loooooong time, and that you're a piss-poor glider when you get there, because you're out of fuel.
I learned that if you're not worried about scoring points, you are much more useful to your country.
I learned to be a bullet sponge.
Mostly, I learned that I have a LOT to learn (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Sounds to me like you've learned a lot in a short time! It also sounds like your off to a good start.
In flight sim's everyone dies, trick is to have fun doing it, and try to go out with style. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
-
I died in style for the Rooks last night, a LOT (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) And I had a blast doing it. It's liberating to be a noob and not know anything about perks, points, scoring, etc.
If anyone needs a bullet sponge, I'm available (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

S!
Seems like You are building a rock solid foundation to the AH experience by practising and learning from Your success/mistakes.Very admirable and good in the long run.I just wish I had the same patience (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I hope You enjoy staying in the AH Community and bear with the variety of pilots You meet here.

Degas has a really good attitude about this game, something I personaly appreciated in him as soom as we started working together.
It is very satisfying to work in the Training Arena with someone like that.
You guys watch out now! It won't be long till he will be making his share of kills (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).
Salute Degas!

Thanks (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
I will do my utmost to die with style, dignity, and to some purpose (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
BTW, Mark. The Rooks could have used ya yesterday...
But I now have a NIK, a 190, a TBM, and a B26 painted on the nose of my Yellow Peril *grin*
Just goes to show you, if you stay in the arena long enough, you're bound to get lucky.
Except for the 26, they were all lucky head-on shots. Hmm, that would make my K/D ratio somewhere around 1/100...

Welcome "Noob".. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Click the link below for a training film library I've begun, only two films now but more to be added shortly. They have text in the text buffer explaining step-by-step procedures as well.

Thanks, Ripsnort. I got AASuppression.zip, but FlightOps.zip wasn't working (the link was not found).
I'll check again.

Fix the CV ops link, you can now download it.

Thanks for the good words, mates (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
For a bit yet, my fast-mover flying is going to be in the TA, lol. I'm having tons of fun in the MA spraying and praying out of Osties and Buffs.
My SA has greatly improved. Main problem in fighters at this point is keeping opponents in front of my guns, and predicting where they are on the rare occasions when I lose sight of them. Solution to these is practice, practice, practice, it seems. And learning the different AC.

<S> Degas,
Nice to see "noobs" with such a great attitude and willingness to learn. Keep at it m8 and i'll lay money that you'll be a future AH "star" in the very near future.
Only lots of practice will improve your situatinal awareness. 1 tip, while in the TA don't use the "F3" view under any circumstances it makes life far too easy and when your flyin in MA youe SA will suck.
But then you prop don't need me to tell ya that.

Howdy, blitz <S>
Gremlin, I use external views in buffs and gv's only, just like in the MA. It's amazing what you can learn when you read web pages that people have taken the trouble to put up (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
But thanks, any future tips greatly appreciated (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
