Title: Another Simpit in the works!
Post by: MaddogJoe on December 04, 2004, 05:46:34 PM: OK, so it went and did it! Wife thinks its "cute", sons think I'm nuts, but I'm having a blast!

Post by: MaddogJoe on December 04, 2004, 11:09:15 PM: I designed the whole thing in pieces :) At this point the sides are only held on with like 7 screws, the Monitor deck is another piece, the rear panel, and the floor, make 5 and the "windscreen" and chair make 7 total. Figure it should take about 10 mins to pull apart to bring in the house...32" doors... and about an hour to put it together and hook up the computer.... Well Im hoping any way

LOL!! Un fortunately I had to build it that big....lets just say Im not a "little" boy any more :D

Got me thinking of an exact replica dash panel that could be put in a case..

Speznaz, build it !! Its a lot of fun building it, of course ya take a lot of abuse from friends and family that want to put you away...err help you LOL!!!

Laser, on that one pictured there I would hazard a guess to say ya they work. I know on my squadies, Nsty1 (hes building the P51) that he has a bunch of switches and hand made levers and such and he has wired them up though a second keyboard so that they all work. This is a picture of his

Post by: MaddogJoe on December 05, 2004, 10:00:27 PM: Well I only had an F4 hanging from the roof, the 109 P38 and P51 mustang arn't done yet, tho I did finish the #3 Monte carlo and my favorite Monte carlo and they are sitting on the sides of the tv. Theres the clock that is in the shape of a plane, and the 28x20 autographed picture from Edwin Markhan of a trio of f6f's rolling over into a dive run.

So I'm a geek, I can live with that :D

Woods easy to get, and for tools well there just a couple of isles over at Lowes or Home depot. And the skill, bahhh wood working is just math and remembering to keep your fingers away from the moving parts! :rofl

Post by: MaddogJoe on December 05, 2004, 10:28:53 PM: using drywall compound nsty. Figure that section looked like a bunch of "slats" so why not give it a try. No stress point there so I got nothing to loose. I'll let ya know how it works out.

ATM my stick and throttle are on a table thats fairly high. Extended play makes my neck hurt from keeping my arms raised for so long. Picture lawn furniture, a TV tray, and a bedpan...thats pretty much my dream :)

Picture a recliner with the sides stripped and modified to hold your stick and opposite side throttle now the foot rest could hold
your pedals.Monitor could be mounted permanently on the wall angled to your liking or mounted on a moveable tray....off-balance motors to vibrate and wake you up on those long
B-17,lanc,B-24 runs :D ....see what i mean ? possibilities are endless for simpit builders..

Hint try putting some wheels on it. I used some big castor wheels from home depot. Sure makes it easy to move and clean around. Use the bigs ones so it will roll easy even on carpet.
