IIRC he posted here before having problems with his game starting that was sound related.

I doubt, very seriously, if he is going to get that to work reliably with Windows 98. Windows 98 used a completely different implementation of the sound system compared to Windows XP/2K.
The amount of CPU overhead for that sound device is enormous, as compared to a good PCI sound card. I have never understood why anyone would want to use it for a gaming system myself.

Apparently it wasnt all that reliable before, as I'm sure he posted here before having problems with that rig. Now he's mixing Win98 and 98SE drivers, and I still havent figured out which one he's using as the real OS. I offered to mail him a 98SE CD I have, although I'm not sure how much good that will do him in the long run.
