I fly Knight 99% of the time but yesterday there wasn't any fights happening so I went Rook. Checked the map and found a possiblility and rolled.
Just after I lifted off a squad formed up on the runway. On RANGE channel the flight leader started givin orders..
"Roll roll roll" "At 180 go to auto climb and turn to zero one zero" "Form up"..."zero one zero NOW !!"
Along the way to the target he gave assignments to the pilots, had a weapons check, who was wingin with who, what their individual target assignment was etc..
I WAS IN A MOVIE !!! It felt so real...I could smell the sweat.
I was a ways ahead and when I arrived at the enemy field there were only two planes up. I killed them both.
Then these guys came barreling in, talkin movie stuff and just blew the crap out of those buildings..talkin "Roger" "Afurniture" and all sorts of pilot lingo.
WOW !!
I flew around the enemy base for a bit, wasn't any enemy so I flew home and landed.
..how long is it before you can change countries ??
-
12hrs if you try to change back it will tell you exactly how long you got left
-
All I can say is that I've never found a reason to leave rookland.
-
most weekends are like that in my sqaud
love the realism of winging and being given orders
that and imagining how shiit scared the nme pilot is when he sees 10+ spitvs formed up coming his way
(http://www.flightsims.info/datas/users/12-cancer.gif)
im a Knight btw
-
That's cool. It's amazing how there are differences. The last time I flew Rook for a couple of days I saw and heard similar stuff.
Interesting how a different chess piece hooks in different pilot types.
-
Its weird Nopoop.
A year or so ago, maybe a little more, Rooks were mainly composed of "fighter pilots". I mean there was base taking goin on there but the vast majority IMHO of players were fighter jocks. It was alot of fun. Somewhere along the line, that changed. I think when they started getting numbers back.
Then the guys who liked the fights saw that the rooks were getting numbers again so they went to the country with the lesser numbers. Basicly, as you know, its just a cycle.
Although now its a cycle that involves mostly new players who think killing buildings is the only part of the game.
-
Yes .... buildings present such a challenge. Ya gotta put the pipper on `em and shoot enough bullets into `em that ya don't auger into `em. Oh wait ... and there's the bombs and missles ... errr ... rockets stuff. Course I doo-doo better with bullets. There was a guy on the other night askin' about how to turn off the cockpit.
Thing is .... I've seen it on both Kniggit and Rooklandia. Ain't been Bishpup, I don't think ... at least not recently. Not enough good pilots there to keep me alive.

I might have flown my P-38 at the 15k-20k range (that is the best operational altitude for that plane) but you can hardly call me a timid flyer. You should know, I've smacked you around enough times.

Another Troll thread where we talk about which play style is right.
YAWN!!!
Go play quake, or Unreal or something. Nobody cares.
Shut up, go away <--- My new war call.

No need for the sensitivity, guys. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Of course .. guess that does include you. :D

Funny thing is, I really didn't remember ever facing you so I checked the stats. In the year or so I've been playing, I got 2 kills on you (both proxies, most likely) and you didn't get any kills on me.
At any rate, I never meant to insinuate that you were a timid pilot, I was simply making a joke based on your well known reputation for flying like a cosmonaut.
I apologize if I offended you, that was not my intent.

I haven't completely quit, just don't play as much anymore. Game has kind of lost its fun lately. Don't play EQ, having a blast zooming around space blowing up Imperials and pirates in my Y-Wing Longprobe.

Ah yes, the voice of the masses who think that the community is polarised into two camps - fighters, and toolshed killers. Black, or White. Nothing else. It never occurs to some people that there are shades of grey in between.
It is true, that planes like the F4U/F6F/P47/P38 carry bombs and rockets and can be used for levelling tool sheds. Pssst - they have guns as well.

awwwww beetle was that a troll? how cute.
I hear you brits like to be agressive before you put out. I hope thats the case here. ;)

did they make you a captain poopie?

Dunno why but as a Knight I find myself fighting Bishops 90% of the times.
Each country, depending on time of the day or week/month, has great fighters, buffs and mission leaders. Every other consideration involves some big amount of generalization.
Changing country? Proud to be a Knight since 1999 :)
-
Only order I can see flying as any country is dis-order.
I have never seen rooks behaving like that?
We are the orcs of AH :lol
-
Before I joined a squad I pulled up the roster each day as I logged in and went to the side with the least numbers. I could never remember which side I was one back then they all seemed either green or red.
Now that I am in a squad, I fly rooks, but I never pay any attention to who I am fighting, Bish and Knights look the same to me. Most of the time I have to look at the map and see "Oh, we are fighing the Bish/Knights today".
I think those that say there is a difference, see what they want to see, they all look the same to me.

yup a town is a town...

Stealing Shane's lame bellybutton quotes should get you banned. Hmm, I bus when one is needed, scrap VH's when needed, get in my Ostie O' Death when needed, but I'm timid? You have no idea how Rooks do NOT like gooning, BUT I enjoy making "sloppy" cons miss and auger trying to get my goon.
Ack-Ack, a question. Why is it Knights and Bish piss and moan about the "side changing" issue more than Rookland? You are to chicken**** to switch yourself? I'd venture to say you ARE. I play this game now for the comraderie than for landing kills.

Started out as a Rook, couldn't find to many good fights 'cause there were just, well, to many of you very organized pilots.
Move to Bish and have found some good fights. We get swarmed over a lot and there's not a whole lot of cooperative team work but it is fun trying to hold off the Rook/Nite hords.
Considering a few weeks as a Nite.

Awwwwww!!! I was looking forward to your response all day, and is this all I get? ;) Troll? Not really. Just setting the record straight! Lots of people prepare a base for capture, but that's not all they do.
Morph, if you and I are both now sitting on the sidelines, we should try to be nice to each other.
So come here and give us a kiss, ya big softie. (http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_2_104.gif)

It is funny to hear bish or knits whine about the ENY thing... guess they shoulda recognized it wasn't going to be some anti-rook only fix to the numbers "problem."
-
Has anyone been busted by the ENY thing? I was on a whopping 60 hours last tour and didnt see it once flyinh knights any where from 6pm to 2 am USA EST.
-
Being a P-38 driver, the ENY never really effected me so I never really paid attention to it.

All countries are not equal. But very similar.
Except last year rooks had least fights (kills+deaths). This was a direct result of rooks having least numbers most of the time.
The alt monkeys have taken their 1st rank in country k/d back this tour.
Very low number of fights at the bish-rook front last two tours. Lot's of work for knights.
edit: 1st and 3rd are somewhat the same ;)

What rainbow? When I forst started playing this Sim, I was NAZGUL, and we would fly with the Flying Circus from time to time. Now I am in the Cactus Air Force, which is also a Rook squad. I do switch to Bish every now and then for a change of pace.
I hate to laugh last at you, but I will.

Yeah, it's an expansion pack for Star Wars Galaxies that finally introduces space combat. You can fly for some of the various Rebel and Imperial squadrons or go the freelancer route and fly for one of the various freelancer factions like the Hutts and CorSecs.

Well, I have my Y-Wing Longprobe "Hell's Harlot", which is a two engined craft and my X-wing "Pudgey", which has four engines and I also have my Sorosub Yacht, "Fiji".
If you do start playing, I'm on the Corbantis server and am the only albino Zabrak with a beer belly in hot pants and Go-Go boots on the server.

nopoop certainly has a way with words and writing/storytelling. Always gives me a chuckle :)

If I were to ever switch for ****s and giggles, it would never be to the rooks. The rooks are just too cheap for me. Like the other day I was in a spit 9 trying to get to our goon in time (didn't make it). So I diverted to defend another base. Along the way, I got jumped by a tempest AND a 262. Soon there was a 109 in there, quickly followed by a second. I think I got 1 of the 109's, but got clipped with 8mm's in the cockpit (so I was blacked out half the time).
As the fight rolled and such we got joined by 2 la7's. I got 1 la7 and that was when the Tempest and 262 disengaged. 2 Spits joined the fight (couldn't check the model though, was too busy). Got 1 spit, when I finally augered into the water on a blackout.
That story didn't really have a point, I just had a blast kicking some rook ass.

That same story could be told by alot of pilots from each country fighting another country. Just think, at least the Temp and 262 was nice enough to disengage and at least give you a little better chance.
-
Wow AKAK, you can fly in space on that game, AND in Aces High???
Isn't it hard to get/keep a massive alt advantage in outer space?
hehe
-
The Tempest and the 262 couldn't touch me. That's why I didn't really care if they disengaged or not. But the thing was that I wasn't defending a base or something with goons inbound. I was in the middle of an ocean.
Infact the whole thing started when the tempest and I passed each other Head On. Had he shot me, the whole thing wouldn't have happened. I never even knew he was there until I heard, PHEEWWW!!!

I'm not sitting on the side lines... Im out of the game period... Finnal... Thats it.
BUT, i know how the game works, how it is, I know how all countries are. The way they fly together and the way certain people fly apart from the horde.
I can tell you were to stick your record. I dont need you, of all people trying to clear my air.
I've done all there is to do in this game.
I used to run missions, that totalled 60+ players many, many times in the past. Im sure there are some bish who remember...
I know how to take a base. 5 Players, knowing what they are doing, and meeting resistance at the base, can still take a base. Its all due inpart to player experience, and more importantly organization/team work.
I got tired of the "war", sick of the people... I wanted to fight and that was it. So I got in a fighter, and never looked back. And thanks to some of the best of the best they showed me what it was like to really, truely have fun in this game. My kind of fun. Its not for everyone but it was for me and thats all that is important.
Honestly, its *******s like yourself, who ruin this game... Or who have tried to. You, and your opinions, who wreck and rip others apart, for the ways they fly, how they fly, where they fly... What they are doing when they are flying. You are one of the most vocal, A-holes I've ever known in this game. And I'm glad your gone. Not for me, but for the game... The game that I loved and still love.
There is my record for you, why dont you go shove it.
