Title: Planes to never complain about being HO'ed by
Post by: mechanic on December 07, 2004, 07:19:25 AM
just so any new guys (or vet whiners) know. If you come head to head with any of these planes, a HO could be on the cards, and you have no right to whine.

Air combat is about using your advantage over your enemy to kill him.

these planes are seriously better than most in regard to firepower, and therefore you should never joust with one of them.

#1: all time heaviest for HOs is the ME 110. no other plane has the cannon loadout of this beast and the later models have enough cannon to sink a cruiser or CV! Dont HO 110s

#2: Mossie, similar to 110, less powerfull ammo but will win 9/10 HOs. Dont HO a mossie.

#3: Nik :  this plane has deadly quad 20mm. dont HO one.

#4: Typh/Tempest: these two are seriously heavy with quad hispanios. the temp and typh suffer a lack of flight manouverability, and therefore you should expect them to fire apon you from any angle. Dont HO these

#5: Hurricane mkIIC
same as above although more likely to work onto your tail.

#6: any FW190. heavily cannon loaded. same as typh/temp these planes will shoot from any angle, and shoot to kill. you stand a resonable chance of damaging them also, but be weary they are small and thin. not a big target.

#7: A20 - this plane is so underatted it isnt funny. 6 50cal MGs in the nose make for a nasty HO shot. watch out

8# IL-2 - this little tank with wings is the #1 base deffence a/c., a HO from one of these will certainly end your sortie. tank busting guns against a plane. think about it.

#9: spit9/la7/pony : unfortunatley the majority of these pilots will be less experienced and therefore more likely to spray like mad from 1k out. ignore their attempt and start you manouver early. by the time they stop shooting and screaming  'BBBAAANNZZZIIIAA!' you should have worked around onto thier tail for your own solution.

#10: Believe it or not, the #10 worst plane to HO is a B26. they have a serious slection on MG in the nose on a fixed sight. if you get in the way of theses guns even in the hardest of planes you will be going down.

Well, there it is, if you get HO'ed by any of these planes you have no right to complain. it was your own fault :D

dont say we didnt warn you.....

Its funny you post this...

Ive been flying Hurri IIc a lot lately... and i get HOed a lot more than in any other plane.
Maybe its because they cant get on my six long enough to kill me?

But youre right... they usually regret it ;)

But the best thing ever was a p38 trying to make my hurri overshoot by throttling back and pulling scissors upwards....

Bah Mech! Hate the title - split infinitive, preposition at the end, Ugh! (http://www.zen33071.zen.co.uk/puke.gif)

But it's a tough one. Best I could do was "planes whose HOs are not worthy of complaint".

I'd keep the list short.  Planes that HOs maybe their only chance to survive

110
A20
Mossie

Get HOed by any of these and . . ., well. . . , you earned it.

I put 109 with gondola cannons 3rd on your list. Ill HO nikis all day long with this set up. But agree with your post, I get sick of people complaining about being hoed.  First you need to know what plane your up against. If your in one of these eleven planes your firepower is your advantage, your going to use it. Second, it takes two planes flying straight at each to create a head on. If one plane moves out of the way, it's not a HO anymore. Most of the people complaining are loosers of the head on. If you dont like it move out of the way! If Im flying a 110, you bet I'm looking for a head on, so watch out.:aok

Don't forget the P38!!! 4x .50, 1 x 20mm, all in a 2-foot pattern.  Ouch.

I enjoy accepting the "HO Invitations" from those planes.  I usually win in the Yak-U.  It's the Indian, not the Arrow.

However, one time I had SIX Niki's (had to be a raid or mission) "attempt" to HO me in an Il-2.  I landed a 56 perk, 6 kill hop within 2 minutes.

1 v 1 or even 1 v 2 Ho's are for Homos and newbs.  Any other time they are fair game.

yak may not have the armor but  the right pilot can avoid the hits  just 1 tap of the cannon and turn   always give me a kill  with no damage

thought that was quite amusing.

Yes , let's discuss successful HO techniques. The arena doesn't have jousters already.

its ok Redd, if we teach them ALL to ho, we will know its coming 100% of the time, not the 90% it is now.

My List of "Do not joust with" consists of just about every plane.

Even if you are in a plane with heavy firepower... it doesn't take much to end a sortie.

Ah! but many of you miss my point. If you were HO'ed any of these planes would you be suprised? No! So, for a newer pilot, these are the ones they should look out for..........or fly depending what side of the bread they butter. these are the planes you should expect to HO you.

The best is when you're the 1, and they're the four, and each and every one does their best to shoot you in the face  :D

Then, at least you know you'll be alive for awhile.

My number one plane not to HO would be the one coming at me. The chance of getting out undamaged don't out way the chance of takingthe enemy out.

However, to seriously choose one, the CHog is by far the worst. With the Quad-20mms and a plane that sucks up damge like a bullet sponge, coming out on top of a HO with it is greater odds than the Detroit Tigers going to the World Series and winning.

but the fact reamains, you will be HO'ed 9 times out of 10 if you come up against most of these a/c. just a warning to noobs.
