Title: What is the point.....
Post by: Joc on December 07, 2004, 08:56:48 PM
In flying under dar, when a town or base will flash anyway??? surely the point in flying under dar is to stay undetected and achieve the element of surprise? would be much more fun if they didnt flash when under dar.

Sorry.. no matter what your altitude, if you fly close enough to a city or town or airfield, you should be discovered. Pretend it is the people on the ground hearing you flying nearby. They report this activity to HQ which then notifies all country members that there is something going on near that airfield, etc. Could be 1 plane, could be 20,, who knows.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid that you might actually have to fight someone.

You could say that the point is that the base is flashing for the reasons midnight said but the enemy does not know how many of you there are or if it is a GV comming in.

Well, what kind of WWII radar could detect aircraft from so far out flying at under 200ft? maybe the base could flash when you came within visual range? maybe Im wrong but doesnt the base still flash even when the dar is down??? Ill have to check....

If local radar is down, I don't think the base will flash.

Checked it tonight Ack-Ack.
Sometimes it does, other times it doesn't. Still looks like there is bug is the base flash code. You must have had the "is A7 (eg) flashing for you" converation with country mates. For some it will others it won't be.

If you go into the Arena Settings under setup, you will see a warning distance in yards for Fighters, Bombers, Boats and Vehicles.  Usually the default settings have the first pair with a higher setting and second pair with a lower setting.

I think the range is far too much for the flashing.  It needs to be closer.  If you're low to the ground with valleys and mountains and stuff, the sound won't be as clear.
