Post by: Suave on December 16, 2004, 09:11:46 AM
Why shouldn't it be repealed?

How about you start with arguements on why it should.  Then we can go from there.

Howabout any of the Amendment's supporters listing the States that ratified it and the exact verifiable date they did so.

Then see if that comes up to 2/3 of the states at that time.

That's negotiable.  SS will not exit by the time you retire anyway.

So you are saying do away with the FICA tax and go to a flat 15% income tax?

Don't think 15% will cover it, especially including FICA.

There are other alternatives to FICA, like make it a state responsibility, not federal.

I'm sure that would be welcomed by the fed's...but do you really think they would give up on collecting the FICA tax?

No.  But what I meant by "its negotiable" is speaking of the SS reform about to be announced sometime this year by the administration. I'd personally like to take that one step further and make it at State level rather than federal. Then 15% flat tax.

Well I dont know of any states that would want to assume that liability without the ability to collect the tax,  that would leave a huge hole in the federal budget.
