im planning on getting a new monitor and vid card. prolly monitor first, my current monitor is a 15" sony flat panel that is limited to refresh rate of 60, res is 1024x768, 32 bit color. vid card is a 64mB DDR GFTi4200. so, the question is, what good vid card, good things to look for in monitor? i was looking to get a 17-19" monitor this time, but as far as anything else goes, im not sure and i dont want to limit myself again because of monitor.
thank you.
oh yea, rest of system is pent 4, win xp pro, 1.8 ghz, 512 ram, 80 gb hardrive. not sure if that matters at all.

get a moniter than can do 1280x1024 @ 85hz as a minium standard.
some can go up to 120hz at that resolution.

Aye, the better your refresh rate, the better your fps will be. The most kickprettythang video card in the world wont help your fps if your monitor is sucky. Well, not beyond a certain point anyway.

I don't think you wil find a flat panel that goes to 120. My Panny only goes to 60 and I love it.:D

That 1.8P4 is gonna bottleneck even a ti4200, more ram will help more than a new vidio card.

guess ill have to see about that ram stuff then. guess it the cheaper route to go for now. think im gonna get a new monitor regardless.

I would go with a better video card 1st ,
as for your still running a 64mb dx 8 card .
you would get a nice improvement w/ a 128/256 dx9 based card .
