May be a silly question but are you highlighting your target?

Hit 'ctrl-tab' to enable Friendly Lock, then 'tab' to cycle thru all targets in your view, similar to the way the 'check6' works, or do a 'shift-tab' to target the centermost target in your view.

It should work on drones as well, it does for me, though I just center the enemy then press tab and I'm afraid that was my one and only suggestion.

To get an idea on leads you're probably better off going in the Training Arena and doing it, as the drones offline only go around in a big circle and at a steady speed, it's a starting point but not realistic enough.

It suprised me a bit how much the lead changes with dir/speed etc..

If you wanna take pot shots at someone lemme know I don't mind spend some time in the TA.

You could always switch to the same country as the offline drones via the O'Club. In the mean time I'll try offline myself to see what commands are needed.

OK, I checked offline and all you need to do is enable the LCG in FlightModeFlags and then highlight your target with the 'tab' or 'shift-tab' secquence. You only need the 'Ctrl-tab' if your targeting friendlies.

Thanks Fuze ....Ill give it a shot now

Ok I get the lead sites but cant hit the broad side of a barn on them....well I guess its just a matter of spray and pray again...LOL......

But that trick did work and the sites come up...however they dont change distance in front of the drones so I am not sure what they are basing the X on for the lead site.

Regards:)

Try filming your shooting and then watching from the target aircraft.  I know this gave me some insight into how to improve shooting from the ground at aircraft.  I had done the same "lead-computing" thing with an Ostie and it only showed about half the actual amount of lead I needed to give to land hits (ie, the aim point was incorrect).

gutboy

the lead computing gunsight works on planes only not objects like ack

for planes, the drones are always bishop. if you change countries offline to knight or rook they will show up as enemy. then just hit "TAB" (that is the default key) and you will get a box around a target.

there will be + signs in green, 1 fore each gun on your plane, so if you are in a p51D with the normal gun load you will see 3 +'s.

if you put the center dot of the gunsight on the + and fire you will hit the plane in the pilot (that is the place of aim for the "computer").

since there are more than 1 + you need to find out which represents what gun. in flat level flight with all guns set to the same convergence the +'s should all be on top of each other. in a turn they will be in different places because of the different positions of the guns on the plane, though wiht all at the same convergence they should be close to each other.

this is NOT tru about cannon / MG planes lieka 190D for example. the cannons have a different trajectory, and the +'s will onle be close when at veyr close ranges (under 400 yards)

as for attacking ack:

in the arena setup offline set the ammo multipliers to the max so you have 1000's of rounds, and turn off tracers before taking off. alson in the arena setup turn off protect objects so you can kill friendly objects. (also might want to set the down time to really low so you can re-destroy the item instead of waiting)

make a pass at the ack and fire a small burst when you think it is a good shot (do this from at least 1000 yards out). watch the ground for the puffs of dust to get an idea of the drop off. try and do these practice attacks from the same alt and angle every time.

after a few passes you should gte a feel when to fire. once you can kill ack from a good distance and alt, practice odd and different angles. see how far you can lob rounds while level on the deck.

it takes a while but the "feel" can be had and once you have it you can deack a field alone almost ev ery time

JB thanks for the information very well stated.  My problem however is manning an ack gun.  Deacking and plane killing is ok for me.  It is just very hard for me to judge the distance on how much to lead an aircraft with the osty or the field ack.

I am continuing to practice and the film viewer method may work however, I have to get used to using it.  I still cant figure out how to get into the tgt plane.....

Anyhow my quest continues and thanks for all the help!

the ack gun is the same... i used the lead computing to practice in that and ostwinds.

like i said about changing countries, do that so the drones are enemy. get the "box" and shoot at the + you will hit them then.

it even works with the 5" on the CV.

great learning tool

To get into the target plane simply click on the plane you want to 'join' on the right side that lists them. You'll have to be on the same country to really ID the correct gameID for the plane your shooting at.

JB73, you get the green + for primary gun and secondary gun, if secondary weapon has the gun selected. At most you get two +'s even if you have the P47D40 with its 8x.50s.

Pull up your map then click

1) Set up

2) Arena Set up

3) Environment

4) Arena settings

Flight mode flags is in that list, just highlight and click change
