Title: bunch of simple requests
Post by: moot on December 19, 2004, 02:39:21 PM
Not like condensation trails, or other complete reworks, just simple stuff like:

Separate color for intermediately damaged items in the damage list.
Troops and cargo added to the damage list.

-Customisable (notepad) combat trim.
-Additional planetype+name in the (friendly) iconmode cycle.
-Map icon+text color added to color setup.
-Tracer shell and and quantity/placement in the chosen ammo belts.
-That promised post-flight .txt statistic summary.
-Perked extra goon loads, they could carry 20 troops, I heard, it'd make it worth the try to drop into hostile territory.
-More telemetry in the film viewer, like AoA, etc.
-Released cargo damageable by every weapon, not just bullets.
-LVT(2)s don't rotate entirely when only the pilot's pov (gunning most likely) rotates. (dunno if this has been fixed)
-better tracers for the tank rounds, easy thing to do (they shouldnt have the same visible trail)
-Cockpit gun shaking adjusted to be proportional to the guns' caliber.
-AAA guns made to obey law of physics, so they don't instantly rotate to target, and their 5' shells travel the distance between gun and target.
-Add more sound slots to the explosions module, but make it default to a single sound file, so unless we add third party sounds, it stays as it is. So we can, if we want, differentiate all explosions, like rocket impacts and CV 5' explosions, just like we're allowed to do with different model engines etc.
-Tank turret rotation control from driver's seat, by the rudder?
-Control of the remaining flap when the other's been shot off.
-The old turret coaxial.
-Smoke for the Tiger and PT boat?
make GVs collideable against each other, like for buildings now or on each player's FE as it'd suffice; no more walk-thru hull MG PKs.
-A way to plot waypoints on the cb map outside of missions, for personal notes, own navigation or predicting vectors based on dar dots movement, for example.
-Separate wounds for pilots and gunners.
-Rocket convergence.
-A way to set separate salvo values
-Quicker damage to the pilot while one fire, instead of nothing until sudden death..
-An option to leave the loadouts on the mission flights unlocked, so you don't have to make multiples of the same flights just to vary the loadouts.
-Fluid trails proportional to their respective leak.
-Rockets display 1:1 on the wings, unless that's like the runway craters server-side issue.

good requests, to ad to this i would just request that when planning a mission, skins were made available so missions dont have to be flown with the defaults.

Second.

I like the suggestions too.

isn't that dependent on the plane type you are flying? I know I been in F4U's and lose a flap and the other works then been in other types like 202s etc and the other flap didn't work

btw great suggestions

don't forget a squelch command for local range vox :)

That's possible, I'll have to check.

Ponies are the same way with flaps.  And they're a royal PITA to fly when one flap gets jammed.

The sudden death is when the plane goes boom.

The fire seems to be related to fuel tanks damage. In practice it's the egine area that catches fire from hit fuel lines ignited by the heat or sparks from the engine, not the leak from the tanks (that are usually self sealing and located behind the engine, so the vapur is not supposed to ignite). Planes can safly dump fuel without blowing up.

In single engine fighters, when the engine catches fire, the cockpit should be almost immediately be filled with smoke obscuring the views. We shouldn't be seeing flaming dogfighters...

I'd add...

* Mouse wheel scrolling support for menus and lists
* Tank tracks thicker than one pixel. UT2k4 has animated tracks like our's, only with some thickness added, and they look good. Granted, the WB3 tank tracks would be best (independent suspension, articulating track sections) but the paper-thin tracks are a tad old, and making 'em thicker would look better.
* Independent track control on tanks that had it for turning in place
* Mobile sound points. No more having the sound come from behind you when firing at a certain angle.
* New terrains available from the download page like the old days

Too late to edit the first post; I finally got the coax to work after all this time..

* Less oil on the canopy when oil line is hit!
* Have a better selection of tracers!  They seem to be 100%on/off at all times.  Usually it is every 5/10 rounds for a tracer. (Is it possible to turn off tracers in GV's?)
* external view (F3, F4, etc.) views in GV's
* Damage marks on GV's, like on the planes when hit by rounds
  (Makes them look pretty!) :D

Oil line hit ahead of the windscreen is usually, eventually, at least as bad as what we have now.  Look for pics and you'll see for yourself.   I do agree tho, that it'd be better if it didnt just snap on the texture like that.

External view became an exploit in GVs.  Binoculars from the commander position would be realistic.  Having a friendly GV spot your shots from a vantage point is usually the most practical method.

A choice of different ammunition types for the planes that had them, as we have for amounts of ammo for a same gun now, e.g. AP/HE for the NS37, AP/HE/other variations of each for other guns, etc.

AH used to have this.  It was removed because it allowed the player to see things he shouldn't be able to and eliminated the use of cover.  It was good that it was removed.

Tinted reticules
A button to lock/unlock the clipboard map's zoom and/or pan.
A 190D13 with 50,000hp on the deck.
Shouldn't be getting scrap collisions when straffing and hitting only the targeted GV, and not throwing up dirt etc.

So the combat trim would behave as you map it in a (notepad) chart, the independent variable being speed, and the dependent variable being trim position.

So if for example one finds the Ki84 elevator trim is too low in a certain speed range, he can change it to his liking.

speed          trim
               rudder          elevator          aileron
0                x                y                z
etc

One could also play with the elasticity of the trim, but it's doubtful anyone is that picky.

A button to salvo everything at once.
If not a complete map to rudders when in another position, 4 buttons to remotely turn tank turrets to cardinal positions.
A track-break button.

more track control buttons: a torque-break button and a torque-invert button, one for each track; as detailed in this thread (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=112773&highlight=tracks+button).

I'd like to see some type of indicator on the field guns and maybe in the GV guns to let you know what direction (N,S,E,W, etc.) you're pointing, instead of having to look at the clipboard to find out.

and perhaps the ability to lockout a cv from planes upping if a mission is up(and the ability of a higher ranked person to unlock CV if said player is afk or abusing it)

i'd also like to see take off damage aswell

sometimes when i take off in a spit14 and theres an enemy plane closing in i try taking off at a lower speed but often clip one of my wings on the ground

i think when the wing hits the ground it should buckle to the ammount of pressure it hit the ground at effecting the planes performance in flight

Tracers are definately not 100% on or off.  If you squeeze off a round or two when you have the option turned on, you'd see that not all bullets are tracers.

Your third item makes no sense. Combat trim is not any ONE setting. It is not something you can "edit", but you can simply turn it off and make your own trim adjustments after turning it off.

Combat trim is not a setting. It is a constant state of correction for your current speed. Combat trim for low alt 150mph is vastly different from combat trim at 25k and 450mph.

So you can't edit anything. There is nothing to edit. The computer jsut does the best job to keep you steady as it can. If you don't like it, turn it off (it's already set, so you're 90% there) then tweak with trim keys. I usually trim the nose down, from where CT sets it.

A separate sound for water ditching.  Which btw doesn't slow the plane fast enough.

lol have you seen planes hitting water?
Title: bunch of simple requests

Plane hits the water as you are probably gonna go through the canopy.  Seeing videos of 747's or whatnot doing water landings, they stop pretty fast, imagine a little plane burrowing into it.

Large modern commercials are different since they're so much bigger and heavier.

But in AH, even though the fighters we fly would probably skim nicely at high speed, I estimate they should slow down more quickly from 100-150mph.

requests respectfully DENIED !

Just want some troops that are sappers, drop em and they run around to nearest destructable item and kaboom!

make em carry #50 of HE.

and while HTC is at it add some IEDs for tanks n stuff.
