Cold winter day for you folk down there huh?

We're at  our pretty normal 10 degree temps for this time of year.

Did you mean 'Winter Solstice' ? (The shortest day of the year?)

More info here: Solstice (http://www.candlegrove.com/solstice.html)

(Yes, yes, I know, the day is still 24hrs long, but on this day there are fewer daylight hours and more nighttime hours than any other day of the year.)

Last night's temperature here in N. Lower Michigan was 7° F (-14° C), and we received 6-8" of fresh snow.

Take 'solace', the days get longer from here...

Yikes !

I don't even have a decent jacket.  A jeans jacket with a sweat shirt is about the warmest.

Winter?? What's that? We don't have Winter in Houston. We just go from the rainy season....to the rainier season, then back to the rainy season. In between them, somehere around August, we have the Hotter'n Hell season. But they all have one thing in common: THE HUMIDITY!!

isn't this the day that you are supposed to be able to stand an egg up on its end or something.   Or, is that the summer solstice (SP)?
