You can't. I will be leaderless if you do. You have fiduciary responsibilities here.
WTF happened, if I may be so bold as to ask?
In fact...I HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!

Shame Grits , you are a gentleman
Fun flying with and against you

Didnt see this one coming:(

me either. we were having fun in the CT last night. cept for a little allied gang banging all was well. In fact it seemed to me that the CT was back to normal. LoKee and company milking bases and padding scores with also LoKee taking the opportunity to wish me a merry "I hope ur house burns down and ur family all dies" christmas again. That zany LoKee he's such a fine human.
I hope you change ur mind grits and come back the CT just won't be the same without you. Ok it'll be almost the same. Ok go ahead and quit all you ever did was kill me any way, who needs ya. :D

:(

Sorry to hear that Grits. You are gonna be missed.
when are you coming back?:D
cheers,

I will explain a little. I started flying AH in Jan '04. In Sept. we had hurricane Ivan hit Pensacola and I did not fly for about 5 weeks, and you know what? I didnt miss it at all, not one bit. Ever since then I have just not been the same in regards to AH, I dont know exactly what it is, but something is broken.
When I started flying again after the hurricane I had my worst month ever, even worse than my first one in January after not flying a sim in 8-9 years. I expected to be rusty after a 5 week layoff, but I have not been having fun and its not because I was rusty, I just dont like this game anymore and I dont know why.
Nobody did anything to cause me to quit last night, I just said to myself "WTF do I still play this game for if I dont enjoy it?". This is not the average "I hate this game" thing we all have every so often, this is deeper.
I have not actually hit the "kill" button on my account yet, and I will probably not delete it, but I dont expect to fly much for a long while. Maybe I need to stay in the TA/DA and learn something for a few months?
-
ah the unexplainable "AHnofunfunk". I get that from time to time myself. I dont know whats more frustrating, the not having fun or the not knowing why exactly your not having fun. I hope you snap out of it Grits. You're fun as hell to fly with and it wont be the same without you in the CT or HAs. We already lost one of the CTs favorite pilots this month, Id hate to see another go.
PS, come to squad night tonight, we'll break you out of the funk if it kills you:D
LoKee taking the opportunity to wish me a merry "I hope ur house burns down and ur family all dies" christmas again.
Thats just heartwarming isnt it? I can post some pics of about 7 or so holiday house fires from the last week. Got 4 newly homeless families from a single fire at an apartment complex. Ill have to wait till next shift to get you the pics from yesterdays though, sorry. Only 3 more houseburning days till Christmas, keep your fingers crossed Lokee:rolleyes:

Grits say it isn't so!!
Anyway hope you change your mind, CT and HA won't be the same without ya....

You are a bag of dung, do you known that? I have been flying AH for years, since the beginning of the Millenium or sometime around there, and AW since 1996, and people have always shot me down and picked on me and made jokes about how easy it is to get Oldman kills. Did I quit? NO! Did I whine that I was rusty and the game just wasn't the same? NO! I went back, night after night, making countless one-way missions because I thought it was FUN TO DOGFIGHT!

Sorry for the double post, something is wrong with my machine.
Now, where was I?
So, despite the fact that many people who were far more talented than me invited me to join their far-more-talented squads, I declined, because I wanted to FIGHT and to SWITCH SIDES if necessary to make the FIGHTS better. Until finally someone came along and said that he had a squad that wanted to FIGHT and wasn't interested in KILLS and we could switch sides and not worry about whether we were getting enough KILLS or not, nor whine about whether we were too rusty to get any KILLS. And so I joined that squad, because, after all, the fight is what it's all about, not how many FREAKING KILLS you can land.
And now look what happens! My leader is quitting the game because he's getting KILLED TOO MUCH?
I am disconsolate. At Christmas, the merriest time of the year, I am depressed and crying into my beer. Woe is me. Woe is the Oldman. Lost, alone, leaderless...

Well, when you put it that way, it does sound rather silly doesnt it?
It isnt about getting kills, or being killed, I've had long streaks of no kills before, and I die probably 80% of the time even on my best day. The problem is, I just dont have fun anymore, and I dont know why.

Another candidate for Boardaholics Anonymous. Sometimes ... sometimes one just has to talk about it ... to not be alone ... to share the pain and the addiction ...
ohhhhh ... ohhhhhhhhh ... mmmmmnnnnn ... sometimes ... the pain ... feels ... so...
GOOD!
But ... this is the wrong place for that ... beware ... here ... here your fellow addicts will slowly and cunningly ... lure you ...
BACK TO PLAYING THE GAME!
Go ahead ... take a sip ... what's a sip gonna do? you can handle it ...
Be wary ... be wery, wery wary ....

Age old problem....
Most of us "oldtimers" go thru it....truthfully there is no real answer. Best I've found for me is grabbing a Ki-61 in the MA. Good enough ride to fight anything you meet, with long enough range to tool around for a bit.
I'd also suggest spending some time in the TA....I spent some time as a trainer there and it does have its rewards. I'm sure the current group of trainers would love to have you around to help out....

I guess if things are tight, you have to watch ur pennies ...
but
If I only get in one good sortie a month, it is worth the $15 bucks to me as i can not think of a single thing that gives me the enjoyment that sortie did and cost less than 50 cents a day

... of course I get in more than one good sortie in a month .. :)

You nailed it, Eagler ... best game in the universe.

I gave my pc to the devil ... but I still got a friend or two who owns one.
Gawsh ding dang it! If we ain't addicted to the game, we sure are to the forum! Ahem.
Hey ... I admit I miss it. I was a virtual freakin' ace! (When there were plenty of noobs up without Shane or someone like Shane there "protecting" them) errrrr
Burning houses and hurricanes, what're we gonna do?!
(I'm pricing motorcycles. Grits, wanna join my motorcycle gang?)

For some reason, I feel I need to post here as well. Coming back here after long months off and like Grit's 5 week lay off, I don't miss it. When I returned this summer and joined 54 I was very happy for about 2 weeks. Then something happened, I don't know what. I didn't look forward to squad nights and that shocked me. Jester can tell you, squad nights were all I looked forward to the rest of the week. I miss flying and dieing but some of the bs that went on in the CT got to me. When I started here in Nov 02 with the 325th there seemed to be a tight community. For whatever reasons it seems to have dissipated by this summer to a point I no longer liked flying. I am not a AH player that enjoyed the thrill of the kill as much as I liked the immersion of reality that AH offered. I am far more interested in squad missions than I am lone eagle sorties. Hopefully my interest in coming back to the CT, or more accurately AH, will return. But after reading some of these new threads who knows. Jester, Lowe, and the rest of JG 54 I apologise about my sudden Amelia Earhardt this summer. I just totally walked away from AH and cut my ties. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I am *sure* someone in here will post a smart prettythang comment about it and, hey, back to square one.
-
Smart butt comment meter pegging a zero old buddy DiabloTX. BTW how'd you like getting a little snow down that way for Christmas?
Nice to see you back on the board and Tardlo give me a call you fool! Dammit man you had plenty of us worried about you buddy! Email me for my cell number but Slash has it also.

So, you're responsible for that? That was crazy!
Neg. on the coming back right now. Work has me too busy and still feeling the burn. Plus, I'd like to update my rig before doing the duece again.
Where is Tardlo?

Just got in this thread late. Grits! Don't go man, take some time off and you'll find your way back here I'm sure. I started playing again in November after a 6 month break because I was burnt out completely.
I've been coming into the CT more and more each night instead of the MA for the same reasons...smaller fights, generally better talent and (mostly) decent people. I'd hate to see you go for good! Take it easy and come back when you're ready.
