Im trying to fix my mate's computer, and it seems he has a dual boot (win98 and winXP). I want to remove the win98, but havent a clue how to do it.
Anyone have any ideas? :)

Is this on one hard drive, or 2?

It was in the same partition. No matter though, im just gonna do a full format and reinstall. His problems are more than just a faulty dual boot.

When you say "in the same partition", I assume you mean on the same hard drive. Its impossible for XP and 98 to share a partition. XP barely even recognizes 98, and its totally incompatible as far as sharing any space with it.
If you had both on the same drive, yes, you have to reformat and reinstall XP. If you have access to a second HD, it would make things easier. You could do the install on the extra HD, then transfer the settings and proggies over from the old XP install to the fresh one. Then you could wipe the original clean.

Yeah, unfortunately he has only one HD. He also has a load of spyware and stuff that we just cant get rid of as well, and nothing of any importance on his HD, so we figures it's best to just start afresh.
I have AV and firewall proggies that are fully updateable (is that a word? :) ) on the internet, so at least he will start with a fully protected system.
I told him to stay off the porn this time though
