Title: C.205
Post by: kaos1 on December 23, 2004, 07:01:41 PM
How many others fly the C.205?  I spend most of my time in one, and do a good job on the SPits, Niks, P-51's etc.  Would like to know how many others enjoy this great little aircraft

C.205 is a nice plane.  Many threads attest to its appeal.  For most people, seems to be more an occasional cocktail than an entree.

i like very much the 205 as the intere 4^stormo caccia (http://www.4stormo.it)

infact my squad is inspired by 4^stormo caccia, during the war it was equipped with 202 and 205 macchi's

if you would to see some nice pics of italian wwii plane:

http://www.finn.it/regia/html/seconda_guerra_mondiale01.htm
like said curchill same for italian pilot
"never was so much owned by so many to so few"
outnumbered and with only few plane pilots figth against all
http://www.regiaaeronautica.it/intro.htm

 regia marina italiana (http://www.regiamarina.net/index_it.htm)

id like to see in AH
some more italian figyher
as a fiat g 50 finnish flag
(http://www.finn.it/regia/immagini/fiat/fiat_g50_finlandese.jpg)

or a reggiane 200 Re Falco with swedish flag

or the best figther
the g-55 fiat
it was bettere than the fw-190 or the g-10 from luftwaffe, that is
not my word pilot from luftwaffe said that testing it:
in 1944 at tourin airport they compared the 3 plane
choosing the fiat like the best

The Veltro was a great plane, but was produced in too little numbers.

The amaizing thing is that is a 1943 plane.

Actually it was a late 1942, early 1943, a/c ;) It was more than ready at the end of 1943. And yes, the problem was production numbers.

If we had a rollin plane set you could see many more C.205 flying in the Main. But you know, late-war-guys just wanna fly sissy-uber-planes :D

There is nothing more fun than finding a low & slow p51 with a c.205, and proceding to trash it. It rules!

Harder to stay alive in than it used to be, arena is full of late war monsters.

Visibility is its weakest point.

When American airman tested captured italian Planes in 1943,they had nothing but good things to say about them. All italian aircrft had very well harmonised controls and were a joy to fly,and the later models were well armed and fast, with good climb rate and turn, but a superb dive ability, still contolable at 500 mph.

I think the veltro,is one of the most beautiful planes of wwII.

the c205 is a very fun plane, but is a bit slow and burns e a bit too fast. however, i love the plane for what it does well, like rolls well when fast and can pack a punch when close. I have landed 8 kills in it.

However, being a slow, early war e-burner, once slow it really loses its edge.

But you sure can't laugh at a great sortie with 40 perkies :)

Wrong, you should consider the C205 a fast energy fighter. I mean, keep your speed and do vertical maneuvers. Being a 1942-43 fighter, it is quite fast between 10K and 20K.

It can do the same things of the 109G-2 and G-6 and something else: roll and maneuver very well at high speeds. You can bounce bombers from high alt without fear of compressing and with 2x20mm and 2x12,7mm you can shoot them down with one passage.

AH's C.205 is, however, horribly unstable if compared with the 109. A bit too much IMHO.

I dont think the 205 is slow at all, it also climbs very well. It's major limitations are its poor visability and limited range. As for E bleed, it's a two edged sword. 205 is a great spit/pony killer for exactly that reason...especially when you can use the vertical (ie not on the deck) to recharge...

The 205 is my main fighter ride.. I've got close to 7-1 k/d ratio in it.. Climbs great, accelerates like a bullet in a dive, holds speed very well in the vertical climb, turns well at high speeds, has good low speed manuverability, fairly decent gun package... Whats there not to like?? Although i have been flying the P-38 alot as of late.. Its more of a challenge.  :D

202s are better/more fun

Just started flying the C.205 last night and I like it. Visibility out of it is generally better than the 109's IMO and while it doesn't sip E like the Spit it's no slouch in that department either.

Cheers,

I would think that you could trash a low and slow 51 in anything, no?  Trashing a co-e 51 though would be a different story :D

The only defense the P-51 has over the 205 is speed given equally skilled pilots..

I like the 205 and 202.
Only, the 202 is underarmed.
They perform excellently at high speeds BTW...
