This is an extension on the "secrete message" thread. I started a new one because the other is full of pics with broken links due to a server/ip change.
Anyway, it's a 1/24th FW190 and I'm almost done.
I need to coat it with clear, place decals, install wing cannon ( made from brass) and then slightly weather it and then flat coat it.
I figure maybe 2 months at the rate I've been going on it :)

Can you show a picture with it next to a ruler or a pen maybe ?

Beautiful, Nuke.
-
Is that a "germanized" A6M? :D

1/24, so it's 24th part of about 10 meters which is .. about 16 inches long. (sorry, it's 3 am here and I'm a bit drunk, so calculations might not be correct?)
And Nuke, that's a beauty, nice job. :)

Well Nuke, what can I say. Speechless. My xmas sucked until now. All I can say it...
Thank you.
-
Thanks guys.
DiabloTX
Sorry for taking so long on this. I know when it's done it's going to be the best I could have done though, and I know you will like it. I was really hoping to have this done by Christmas for you though.
One word of advice: it's VERY fragile.
GScholtz, thanks.....no more ignore?

It IS an A6M then....lol!!

Beautiful work, Nuke

Amazing work Nuke.

Very Impressive Nuke - wtg! Do you have photos of any other planes that you built?
-
Well, exactly one year after I started to build this, I delivered it to DiabloTX today. To be honest, it sat for a long time after a severe setback put me in a bad mood. I had to strip all the paint and cut the cowel apart (from a 98% done build) in order to remove part of the motor so the prop would fit.
All said, I had a lot of fun making this model and it was a challenge. I think it turned out pretty darn good in the end.
Some of the decals I had to make: swasticas, JG squad logo and the horizontal "S" markings on the sides. The only other things custom made are the break lines (with retainers), cannon and the seatbelts.
Kyle, it was nice meeting you. Maybe next time you are in Az we can meet again and have a beer.

Woot! Just awesome, Nuke! :)

Hey Nuke-
Awesome job on the model. It now sits on my brothers bookcase for display in Chandler until I can get it safely to Houston, which should be within the next 6 months or so. My family was just amazed at it and the attention to detail you gave it.
Thanks once again for doing that for me and you bet when I get back to Phoenix we will hook up for a beer or two.
Now, let's discuss making a copy of that 1/24 scale model of the USS Enterprise.....hehehehe

Beautiful job, Nuke.

Hint... hint... ;)
-
Nuke, that's just "plane" beautiful!;) You good reason to be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing.
-
Is that an Airfix kit?
I love 1/24th scale stuff, but the airfix kits seem to be a pain.
I tried to do the 1/24 scale 190 from them stopped when I could not get the engine to fit as well lol.
This was years ago though when I was still a teen.
Their Hurricane is nice without the fit problems.
-
GtoRA2, it's an old Heller kit....but the Airfix kit is the exact same thing I believe. Yeah, the engine thing was a pretty major flaw since you really can't tell until the plane is nearly done.... by then you're screwed. :lol
-
WOW!
Well done.
-
what do you charge if the model is provided?

I charge $500.00 plus your first born.
-
Will you settle for Stacy?
-
Stacy? I am not worthy.....but, yeah!
-
not that impressed. I could do at least that good.
-
hmm.. why did this loser drag up this thread?
lemme dig up my shades!

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Nuke himself under a new board name since he was banned under his old one.
ack-ack
-
possibly.. this hero is sure cruising for a ban but it's better if it is Nuke. Otherwise, hes a real special piece of work.
-
Nuke sells astroturf, not roofs.
-
What's funny is I still don't have this plane in my house. My brother in Phoenix has it and still haven't figured out a way to get that big sunovagun all the way to Houston with out it going to pieces.
-
Damn, I saw a NUKE-post, and thought he'd been unbanned.
Come on, skuzzy - have a heart and un-ban NUKE.
