Hey all,
My father's an avid fan of the Jane's WW2 Fighters game, and has requested that I look for a Pacific Theater variation. I haven't been able to turn anything up thus far. Anyone know if there is a Jane's Pac. game?
Pacific Fighters (I think that's the title; it runs on the IL2 engine) looks good, but well exceeds his PC's specs. His system is a compaq off-the-shelf from one of the big box stores, and is no gaming monster. It does have vid and sound cards, but IIRC, its only 1GHz or thereabouts.
He's not interested in online play, and basically just wants a game to happily waste hours and hours of time, as he's done with Jane's over the years.
Anyhow, I'd appreciate any tips you guys might have.
Regards,

Not to mention the 3D cockpits suck. Still find the 3D cockpits of the Janes sim state of the art today, especially the P38 and P47.
A bargain basement ge force card with 1 gig cpu should allow him to run Pacific Fighters at a low setting and still get frames in the 20's. It would still be better than the Microbites sims. Not sure on the memory required, but the recommended specs on a sim like this is for the new pixelshading and eyecandy. Show him some screenies in high res. of pacific fighters and watch him run for the latest water cooled alienware. We need all the flight sim junkies we can recruit to the keep the genre going.

PF is good - pity he can't try it - the Port Moresby campaign in P40's really reminds of the old Dynamix game - think it was Aces over the Pacific? Very similar but lots more eye candy....was very dissapointed with the online play though - totally mindless air quake.
