Title: I need a wheel rim
Post by: Mickey1992 on December 27, 2004, 09:50:58 PM
I need a wheel rim for my Mom's '98 Volvo S90.  The tires on there currently I think are 16" (P205/55 R16).

Question:  Any of you car nuts know what rim will fit the car?  Do I need to get a rim from a '98 S90, or will other models/years fit?  I am not finding any useful info on the web, and the couple of salvage yards I have called are not much help.

With exception to the '93 850 (4 lugs) and S/V40's, Volvo's from the 144 series on up had a 5x108 (5x4.25") bolt pattern.
Sub-grouping those ... with the exception of early 140's/164 and 95+ 960's, RWD Volvo's had an offset of 20-25mm. The early ones had a 40mm offset on narrow wheels, and the 95+ 960, along with other FWD, has the common FWD offset of 43mm, give or take a few. The centerbore is 65.1mm.

8" is about the widest on any, though some may need slight modifications and/or deviation from spec.

Ford Taurus, Windstar, Thunderbird, Mercury Sable, and Lincoln LS share the same bolt pattern, though slightly different offset (38mm, give or take), and 63.9mm centerbore.

I used to help out a buddy from time to time who worked at a volvo dealership.

Basicly I was just there so I could use the lift when I wanted. :)

Good luck finding a single OEM wheel. All the junkyards want to sell full sets. Don't forget to check Ebay.

All the salvage yards I deal with are happy to sell single rims. Is that a 7-hole 16" alloy? Looks like it's in the 125 greenback range.

Last resorte try the dealer ship.
Also look for knock offs places that put custom wheels on cars will have planty of the factory wheels lying around that they will sell.

Then if you still cant find it you will have to buy one from the dealer new!
And that will cost ya.
