Looking for a nice sound system for the living room for the X-Box and Game Cube, and of course ,videos...

X-Box gots a thing out for like 150.00..

I want something that will give me nice explosions, yet allow me to hear some of the minute noises you normally can't hear, and go HOW DID HE HEAR THAT?

What all is possible?

The Xbox has digital audio out, use any surround receiver like you would for movies.

No $150 device needed.

Yeah, don't use those wimpy bellybutton speakers.

I already have a set of Mirage 5.1 speakers in the living room for movies and such.

20 inch sub

Don't have an Xbox anymore, broke. But, thats how I used to do it.

Now if I had it my way...


The speakers would be built in to the room, the biggest speaker we'd be able to get is prolly about the size of a computer screen...

But, thats not saying much, knowing some of you got huge screens, and some have small...


But I need small speakers that do big stuff for small dough...

You don't have a 5.1 system yet in that room?  For poquito-bux, buy one of the home theater systems in a box.  $100-$300 for starter sets, sound will still probably be better then the X-Box gizmo you showed.

I used Bose 901's at one time.....A bit big, but I also have bose acoustimass 5 now for my comp, & moved the 901's to my TV. a bit expensive, but I've never heard a more real sounding speaker. The acoustimass aren't really cheap either, but are great space savers, also have great sound. Any descent amp with digital input will do nowadays for them.

Over all, the 901's are the most amazing; still blow me away on the sound detail I hear on movies Ive seen more than a few times, always hear something new.

If your looking for a "bang for the buck" system, I saw a 150 watt home theater surroundsound system at WalMart for under $40. May not be the best you can get, but definitely "bang for the buck".

Walmart systems will definately get the job done, but if you have alittle money to spend, a general home theater building rule of thumb is to spend at least 50% of your TV's cost on the sound system.

Question comes down to preference of what your ears like.  I am a regular in the Sound & Vision Magazine forum, http://www.soundandvisionmag.com  .    The Energy Take 5.2 is a very nice system for the money.  I've never been a big fan of Bose due to their 120Hz hole in frequency response.   Energy Take 5.2 is around $500-$600.

I'd bet some of the canuckians would know Mirage speakers. :)

That's where I bought mine.
