Did the FAF use Mk.II Hurricanes?

There's already a Hurri1 in FAF skin in the game. I've often thought about making another one, but basically there's very little variation between the basic schemes to really suit as a 'new skin'. So I just chose the one most famous Finnish Hurri1, and didn't really bother to do another one.

Maybe if there's a more unique Finnish Hurricane scheme, I'd be interested in it.

The Finns never flew the P-40 as far as I know.

Finland captured one or two P40's (I remember seeing at least one P40M photo) which were painted in Finnish colors, but they were not in operational use. Finland had Curtiss Hawk 75A's which is an export version of the Curtiss P-36.

Finland didn't use Hurricane Mk.II's either.

There were some Finnish skins under work for 109G6 and Ju88, but I haven't heard what's the latest status of them...

Well THIS is thread I like!! :) :)

It is a dream of mine to see 3 FiAF G-2s in the game.

Then all 3 camo schemes which were used by the FiAF G-2s during the war would be represented.

Because of the current fuselage mirroring problems and the G-6's spiral spinner I think only the so called "three gray day fighter scheme" for the G-2 can be done properly. Dux is currently working on the only G-6 that can be done fairly well even with all the limitations.

As for the JU-88, it is again fairly hard to do properly because of the limitations.

Kweassa,

You are fairly correct about the Hurricane. The one you made has the finnish paint scheme. Other possibility would be english paint scheme with over painted finnish markings but right now they are also very hard to do because of the skin limitations (black/white underwing surfaces).

----------

The bottom line is that I have my eyes on certain three gray-scheme Messerschmitt. AND I also know THE BEST man for the job. BUT this certain Korean guy has allready been kind enough to do TWO MA-skins on my request...so I think I need someone else to ask him if he would do this one... ;) :D :D

Hiya Dux!! :)

The last time I chatted with you in CT...all I know from that conversation are the screenshots I took...I was a bit hmm...tipsy. :)

I understand Kanttori sent you the upper side wing pics of the MT-507? I know they weren't the best quality because of the reflections...by brother lives near the museum and has a pretty good digital camera. I could try to get him to take better pics of the wings. It might be easier now as the evenings are darker during the winter.

"Which one, Wmaker?"

Muhahahaaa...that sounded like a 'yes' to me! :D

The G-2 I'm talking about is this:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/~jjuvonen/planes/me109g2.html

...only a model I know...just to give you an idea. I have several good photographs and a great profile drawing on my HD.

It's the mount of Lentolaivue 34's CO Maj. Eino Luukkanen.

This man was a true leader, who lead through his own example.

Little about Maj. Luukkanen:

Just a few days ago I was cheking out my GF's grandfather's military pass. He served as an assistant mechanic in LLv34. The pass is of course signed by the man himself... ;)

lol, yes... that's a "yes". I should be able to salvage a lot of the G6 detail and use it for the G2.

I seem to have a problem working on Finnish skins... it takes forever to "finish" them! ;)

ps. You're going to like the G6!

Oh yeah, the MT-507 pics... those were fine for what I needed. If I ever need to redo the G6 someday (because of HTC's model modifications) I will certainly take you up on the offer of your brother and his camera. Thanks!

I'm speechless.

That....ahh.....damn....serio usly....speechless.

'Awesome' sounds lame right now. :)

Every spot of paint is in the right place...everything!

I don't have internet at home right now because of computer problems (typing from my friend's place). Even though I don't have all my reference pics with me, I know that everything is spot on. :)

...the only thing I noticed are those "smut of soot" stains (sorry for bad english) which you've drawn over the wings' gondola cannons. MT-507 didn't have those cannons. But that's nothing really.

It's....damn beautiful!

I owe you *a few* drinks! :)

Thanks Dux!!

Aww jeez, thanks guys. :)

Thanks, Wmaker... Kanttori already pointed out the gondola stains to me; I'm fixing it tonight.
