What is with this juvenile, caveman attitude that goes with drinking for so many of those playing Aces High?
As in: "Haha...Ah'm playin' drunk! Ah kin fly better drunk than I kin sober!"
Or: "My daddy always told me never to trust a man who didn't drink!"
Also: "I'm so drunk I just don't give a s---!"
Finally: "You can't be a real man if ya don't drink!"
Why is there such a need to inform all and sundry that you're planning on becoming intoxicated and possibly puking on your keyboard?
I ceased to find drunks amusing years ago. I realize they're always going to be with us, but I'd like to see a more mature attitude about it.
There's nothing wrong with having a social drink with friends, but that is a far cry from getting smashed for the sole purpose of having an excuse to dump one's inhibitions and act the fool.

I have to agree with you , personally i dont touch the stuff.

" YOU LIE LIKE A RUG "

I thought this thread was going to be about Curval's rum at the '02 Con. Now that is truly some demon rum.

Shuckins - why you gettin' all up in my grill, man? I hate your posts and your attitude and as far as I'm concerned you should quit teh BBS and move back to whatever rock you climbed out from under.
Huh?
Oh... I love you man, I'm sorry.
^^^ that's what they sound like to me. YMMV.

You hit the nail right on the head with the observation that this is juvinile behavior.
These folks seem to think that this makes them look "bigger and badder" or that they need something to make themselves look that way. It's sad really that they aren't strong enough to face life on their "own 2 feet" and just be a real person.
It just makes them look as foolish as they are to brag about it. What is so great about getting impaired and doing something like ruining property (like a boat) because you're being stupid with it? It's worse to brag about to strangers then later lie to cover up how or why you did it.
Being drunk does not imbue anyone with a special or good quality, it just makes them more foolish than they would be sober. It also tends to make them blame things on something other than their own actions (it's not my fault. I didn't mean it. I was just drunk) for the results.
Sad.

First I am not in a retirement home, I'm traveling full time.
Second I do drink, just never to intoxication. I've seen and dealt with more than enough drunks to know that intoxication is never an enhancement to anything except to stupidity.
Third I never needed to be intoxicated to have fun, be fun to be around or get closer to the oposite sex or more importantly, get a member of the oposite sex drunk so they would be inteested in me.
Fourth I've never been intoxicated so that I destroyed the property of a family member then lied about it to the owner, bragged about it to a computer bbs and tried to defend those actions.

LOL Nash! I love you too man...in a manly sort of way.

how can drinking "prove you're a man", if you don't let everyone know you're doing it.
this has always been one of the most annoying of the drunk mindsets for me. though it doesn't top the need of the drunk to be in charge, or the idiots who drink in response to problems(< alcoholics in training).

its still kind of poor fashion IMO

I dunno how people can play drunk to begin with. On some nights I'll have 2 - 3 glasses of wine with dinner. After that, I have trouble hitting the ground, let alone a manuvering aircraft.
-
I honestly do play AH better when intoxicated. In fact, during the last "epic" sortie I had where people looked me up later to talk about how great it was, I was completely blitzed and didn't even remember much of what happened until reminded, even though apparently I'd gone deep into enemy territory with one or two other guys, fought about 30 bandits while helping keep the other guys alive, and fought my way back out to land a handful of kills. Of the 4 best online flightsim sorties I've ever had in 9 years of online flightsim gaming, I'd had more than just a couple of drinks before 3 of them.
I agree that drunks loudly proclaiming their drunken state are irritating, but for me and apparently for some others too, some people simply play games better after a few drinks. That's not bragging, it's just a fact.
-
Drinking appears to make you lie, eagl.
-
LOL :)
If you remember Whip and can find him, ask him about our 2v9 the night Princess Diana died. Another inebriated sortie writeup is here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=135561
I'm probably too cautious when sober but after a couple of drinks the reflexes take over and I quit thinking too much about things and just kill kill kill. Works better than it ought to. I'd never fly or drive while intoxicated in RL, but for flightsim gaming it works just fine.
