I am still having spawn problems in both gv's and pt's. Most times I can spawn gv's with no problems, but pt's still spawn underwater. I did have problems last nite spawning gv's. I get the sound of a high speed run down a mountain, but the tank is underground, sitting still. sometimes it will correct itself after spawning 2 or 3 times. I have been having the same problem since around patch 2. Just thought that I would mention it

Man o Man I am so tired of this bug.
Half the time I get the "runaway screaming spawn" where the vehicle tracks noise winds out to 1000mph. The other half the time I spawn underground.
Actually I admit I am exaggerating. It's probably only 80% of the time. It always occurs at remote spawn and never at a hangar spawn.
The current system where anybody around gets a proxy kill (why the blazes do we have proxy kills on vehicles) means I lose another tiger. Truly sick of this. I hear guys complaining about it online but this is the only post I see in hear. People now so accustomed to these bugs they just grumble and put up with it?

One more insight into this continuing annoyance:
It seems to be related porportionally in some way to the distance moved in the spawn.
A short spawn very very rarely causes the problem.
A long spawn gives it most every time.
It seems to scale with distance.

ok... tried spawning again to an airfield.. and spawned underground. NO sign of my tank, but the view would change slightly from POS 2 and 3.... I do agree... it seems related to the distance spawned. I was able to spawn to closer fields.... but got 2 captures the first time I tried. Its getting very frustrating.. next time I get to play, I am gonna make notes on spawn fields that give me problems. :(

To get this fixed:
Turn on film before you spawn. If you get a weird spawn, note the location and map. Send film and notes on location to Skuzzy.

Sounds simple, but of course doesn't take account of the fact that its been done already.
A feeling of frustration and futility arises from the "never respond or give feedback" policy that is the hallmark of HTC's bug reporting policy. If there was a "thanks for the films we are looking at it" or "we need more help on this" or "we don't give a damn" then you and I both would know the current status and whether more films were needed or not.

You're right to complain about that aspect of the bug squashing process, it's something they need to work on. Every customer who goes to the effort to send a film should get a note back thanking them for their diligence.
I have gotten a reply back when I send films in on bugs thanking me. But it's not every time. I don't think they have a no acknowledgement policy, I think it's a lack of a policy that requires that every customer must get a response.
The staff obviously reads these boards and works on the bugs because you see efforts addressing them in the next patch or two.
But posts like the one Mystic2 used to start this thread are next to worthless. You have to be specific. "On 2-3-2005 I was at A85 on Ozkansas, spawned to P-17, GV flipped over instantly, film attached".
I've sent in bug reports about the supply trucks at Axx on Map xxx running across the middle of the field and crashing into my plane on the runway. Skuzzy replied here on the board and they were fixed in 24 hours.

Sure, I can be more precise:
Every map in AH2.
Every spawn other than the shortest.
That covers it with precision.

You do have a point Mosq.. but Dantoo is right.. All maps with a long spawn point will cause this problem. Sometimes its the highspeed sound. but most times its under ground. Then even tho no one is around, it gives a capture message when you tower out. I do need to give specific times and spawn point fields, but was just being general about it because I have seen the same problems posted. I usually just get frustrated and move on to bombers or something and just forget where I just upped from. I know HT and the crew is busy, and I figure they will narrow it down sometime. I just thought it would help to keep it out in the open

In order to illuminate just a small part of the problem and demonstrate that it isn't the work of feverished minds:
PT bow's down to an invisible hole:

Osti hanging around with nowhere to go (and it can go nowhere):

An M3 so far underground on spawn that if you look just below the shadow, you can see the tip of the .50 cal (shadow is plainly visible on top of the ground but who cares about that kind of bug):

I have never in AHI or AHII spawned underground.
I hope I don't catch whatever bug it is you have!

Update:
I think I have cured this on my system now. (fingers crossed)
Under Setup/Video/GUI/Move time I have lowered the slider to near the bottom. I haven't had a recurrence so far.
I was talking to a guy who suggested that the problem was that the map was being laid out in "layers" in the video card.
That is to say, the ground was drawn first, then the hills trees etc ... If your vehicle was to be drawn after the ground but before the terrain you could end up under it.
Well maybe..... I don't have a schmick and I'm not sure it addresses the invisible holes you fall into. Maybe it does? All I know is that so far it seems to have fixed the problem.
