Title: FM question.....
Post by: humble on January 01, 2005, 02:27:00 PM
Curious about E retension and spins....

One of the things thats always annoyed me since we went to the easymode FM (1.4) is the ability of planes that spin out to retain E. I'm curious if this in fact a more accurate representation or not...

I'm just constantly amazed a guy can put a plane in a spin to avoid a shot AND correct and close before you can get out of range. I could care less about all the HO whinning etc...and I have no issues with a guy spinning out to deny a shot....I just dont feel that you'd retain/gain E in the process....

Stalling (be it one wing or two) in this game does not have nearly enough of a drag penalty. A stalled wing should generate a ton of drag, just watch a guy at an airshow execute multiple snap-rolls and note how quickly it slows down and turns into a flat spin. It's a behavior we do not have modeled correctly in this game. Post-stall behavior is probably the hardest aspect of a FM to model correctly. I too would like to see some further devopment now that we have a higher fidelity FM in AH2.

Bring true snap-rolls, accelerated stalls, wing-overs and flat spins to the game!

It does produce lots of drag in AH. Simple test is the  decent rate in a spin.
