Title: Need film HELP

I've made a few films  already and im working on a new one. But im sick of having to wait for the movie to be saved as a avi. It's like freaking 1fram per second. So for a 1min clip it takes 20 mins. (no joke) i try to use other things like "windows codic" blah blah blah and it either is the same thing (1 frame/sec) or it is 60frams/sec  and the file is there in the films folder but has 0kb so i cant open it. What is this !!!!!! Please give me a better way to make movie's faster and not smash my head through the moniter!
