How 'bout the top scorer for each country gets to be the "leader" for the next tour? They would not be given any true power but simply recognized as the leader for that country. They could perhaps suggest a general strategy through an extended mission builder, maybe defining hot spots, front lines and suggested lines of attack and defence. Perhaps players participating in a mission generated by their leader could recieve a small perk bonus. Maybe a text buffer message like "your leader has posted a mission" could be incorporated to give people a sence of orginization and authority. You could even add a whole new scoring section for "leaders" with stats like wars won, mission effectiveness, etc...
Again, they would have no true power, all particpation would be purely voluntary and it would give a since of direction and strategy to the game it has been lacking as of late. Plus the "score potatos" are probably actually the most qualified for this sort of thing.
Just my cents, hope it makes sence. I can think of numerous ways to extend it, make squads part of the chain of command, etc. while retaining the voluntary aspect of it.

sorry, just because someone has good score doesn't mean they make good leaders.

Well at least score mongers have a grasp of the mechanics of the game. And as such are probably better leaders than 90% of the players. Plus it gives people something to shoot for.

Hmmm..... I think you got it backwards. Most score potatos are NOT team players. They are individualist, concerned w/ their score over the "NEED" of their fellow country. They are the guys using "you" as bait, not deacking the field for fear of geting hit, running from that 4 on 1 'cause of the odds, etc, etc, etc....
Besides, a real leader, one that is effective, leads by example. Certain guys do good missions, help w/ field captures, do the "little" things that help the country (resupply, etc) and are know for their actions.
I for one, looking at the "top" scorers for "my" country, don't see one that "helps" out with the "Big" picture (besides myself of course). Most guys in the top 10 wouldn't do the things necessary to help out 'cause they will hurt their presious "rank".
Just my 2 cents....

ok, so suggest a better way to select a leader, democratic elections? What about the general concept?

Sure, if we can have re-counts too, it's fine with me. And don't forget the supreme court to play with the election results... Oh, and we need parties, like Cherry pickers, Furballers, etc.
What about Unions? Each Country should have them, ya know. And we all shall pay taxes (few perkies).
Anything else? Ahh yeah, B29, serving as airforce 1. Right!

the whole idea of a single person being the "online leader" of a particular country is silly.
Not gonna happen.
Best thing is to get the CO's of various squad talking 2 each other. Possibly get a "set" channel to talk/type on for squad CO's. After that, it's easy. COMMUNICATE. If you have 4-5 CO's of squads w/ ok #'s up, say 4-6 per squad, you can do some damage.
I know for a fact when the WM's team up with say the FB's, or CH's, we get stuff done. Quick. Joint squad ops are by far the quickest way to get things done.
Really all that's needed is more communication. And by that i don't mean little "generals" screaming on country/range channel what everyone should be doing. You should just say what's needed. Somebody will do it eventually. You will see me all the time asking for stuff. Troops down here, help there. I just type it.
Exp. "Need troops down 16,7 at a33" Granted, I might type it 10 times over a 1/2 hour before it's taken care of, but that's the way it is. NOTHING get's done "fast" in AH, so expect to ask many times.
That's it really. Somebody will do it if you ask 'nuff and nicely. Just provide the info, location, and the need. It'll get done (not always, but usually). I get a kick out of the guys who are just SCREAMING re. what they think needs 2b done. "You guys SUCK! I warned you about XX base for an hour! I'm changing countries"
lol that's the best. I will usually NEVER help out someone being a jerk, or screaming like a whiney brat.
Bottom line, just provide the info out there. If you going to give an alert for a field, make sure you give the grid cords. Heck, if you ask for anything, provide gird cords. W/ proper communications stuff get's done. (heh. usually. I fly Knight, so i'm disappointed alot. c'est la vie)

We are on the same page WMLute. You are certainly correct and I suppose if I really wanted to expend the energy to find (the main problem) and establish communications with willing parties I could. I just thought it would be nice to have some sort established protocol. Maybe an offical squad CO channel for each country? Just trying to figure out a way to get people more organized. I don't know... thanks for the input.

P.S. WM's rock

no. definately not.
I change country between knit/bish and have seen first hand how these 'top ranked players' get their score. They should not lead anyone, and if they did they would probably use it for their own personal gain.

YOU MEAN WHOEVER TYPES IN ALL CAPS ISN'T IN CHARGE?
Now I'm really confused. :D

I cannot think of any better way to ensure half the MA refusing to even log in.
I like it. :D
Why do we need a leader?
Is the leader kinda like the kid in school that always volunteered for "hall monitor" duty and got stuffed in lockers? In that case, I'm definitely all for it, and I nominate Furball to lead each country!
GET HIM!!
:lol

Anytime you get groups of 4-8 people working together stuff happens. Fields get taken, enemy fields are hit, stuff just flows.
Get 2 to 5 of those groups working good over a 4 hour period and your looking at winning a reset.
The key is teamwork. And it has to be by choice. It can't be forced, rammed down anyone's throat, or even much talked about.
No generals, no chiefs, just a nice little bunch of indians that are willing to work together to accomplish something.
Squads do this all the time. Its harder outside the squad because when you get a group working good someone else wants to tell it what to do.
