These two combined in the MA is getting very old. Sometimes you think your getting cataracts!
Is it ever High Noon in the MA? If so, Its for a short duration.
HT... watermelon Can the 24/7 Fog Crap please. Its very anoying to log on only to see the every time no matter the time of the day. I start blinking to clear the film from my eyes! I am one of those that hated the night time in the MA. Im all for bringing back night time if it means a more realistic time cycle.

AMEN to that. It's either sunrise or sunset 90% of the time. Seems like I am always flying directly at the nuclear blast Sun. Crap gives me a headache, along with most of the people I talk to in the game.
-
I'm starting to think that HT is gonna come out with an optional (for pay) patch to give us aviator sunglasses to cope with the "Nuking" sun. ROFLOL
All the Best...

Fog has been turned off in the Main Arena since the arena was reset last Wednesday.
Have no idea what you are referring to about the time. The arena time is the same as it has been for, at least, the last 6 months. It goes from morning to afternoon, then back again.

The current map that you just reset to (Uterus) ... appears to be a little "foggy" to me when looking towards the horizon.
-
Ok, I should not have said it was turned off. Rather, it is at the default it has been at since Aces High II started up, which is 16 miles.
-
Maybe its time to look into that cataract thingy? :D

Aside of the fog, everything is too dark. Every time I get into MA I look for the sun East or West, but, surprise, is at top but the ambient light is like that of a snowing winter day.

Maybe it has been the same Time setting for 6 months. The Fact is i personally haven’t bothered complaining about it till now. It doesn’t mean I haven’t noticed it, nor does it mean that i have liked it. Trying to be patient here. But enough is enough. As for the "FOG", I dont like it. Sorry... it's just my opinion on the matter. I geuss the fog as a static condition is what bothers me the most. But the two combined is making for a very unpleasant game.

In the 3D graphics realm, the term 'FOG' applies to a condition which allows distant objects to fade in and out of view. It helps reduce the workload on video cards.
If there is a real-world corrolary, it would be 'haze'.
-
The haze isn't a big problem to me, I actually liked it the way you had it before for a short time. Reason is it reduced the effect of the sun to me. It's the Sun that most wish was toned down abit.

Yes there is a real world "corrolary" (Is this a word?) Its about time someone from HTC used the correct term. Too bad they used the term “Fog” in the arena settings menu and confused hundreds of players.
I certainly understand trying to reduce the workload of video cards. But i can tell you that it doesn't help FR at close range where it is most needed. At least it hasn't for me. Kinda seems like a gimmick to me.
BTW...is the current arena clock linier from Dusk till Dawn? I doesn’t feel that way. If so could it be changed up a bit? So as the USA players can play in the evening at high noon sometimes?
Thank You
-
The clock is linear, from dusk to dawn. What times do you typically play Mugz?
The 'haze' effect is not a hack at all. If it was not there, at all, then the entire world would have to be rendered all the time.
The use of the word FOG is quite correct, in terms of 3D design/graphics. This is how the video card companies, and 3D standards (OpenGL/DirectX) have labelled the effect.

Hey Skuzzy can we get some weather back?

I dont remember calling the "Haze" a Hack. Just that it doesnt make a difference close up when it counts. My FR is the same as before while over bzy feilds or over Cv's. No change in FR at all in those cases.
I play mornings and evenings...Sometime off and on all day.
Most of the time the sun is On the horizon. or maybe 30 Deg above.

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like the clock is binary,
dawn straight to dusk.

Its probably just me Rino. I guess the Game has just gotten too many little irritations for me to enjoy any more. The fighting is only a very small part of the game. You have to enjoy the scenery the modeling among other things to keep it fun...and its just not appealing to my eye much these days. The overall feel is just gettin un_fun for me i think.

Considering the scenery NEVER changes whats there to enjoy?

It's a matter of when you log on. For me, it seems that during the vast majority of the times that I log in it is either dawn or dusk. It is almost never mid day.
The AH clock is not a real 24 hour clock anyway, why not fudge it some?
6am (dawn) to 9am = 2x normal (1.5 hours)
9am to 3pm = .5x normal (12 hours)
3am to 6pm (dusk) = 2x normal (1.5 hours)
-
I didn’t intend for this to be an attack on AH2 in general. Its just that the visibility seems worse than it used to be. Add that to all the other little quirks that I despise. Itsy bitsy hit sprites, GV damage model and GV model in general) to name a few. It’s just is becoming more than I care to tolerate I think.
PS...If its all relitive? ( Everyone is effected the same), why make it a pain in the Arse?

What's the clock speed set at Skuzzy?
See.....if it gets set to 1:1 then players would notice the sun always being in the same place when they log on at 6pm after work, however, the amount of real time the sun stays well above the horizon would be....well lots. If the clock is set to 2:1 then we'd see 4 sunsets per actual day (cos of no night time) but again, the sun would always be in the same place on first login for regular players who log in at the same time every day. If it's 3:1 then those set-your-clock-by-them players would find the sun's position pretty random......but 6 sunsets a day means that a very large amount of the (real) time the sun will be close to the horizon.
So what's the clock speed in the MA?
If it's 1:1 then.......damn I've been unlucky cos I agree with everyone above, whenever I log in it's either early morning or late afternoon.

The Fog doesn't bother me nearly as bad as the sun.
I agree I dont remember any high noons lately. Flying in to the sun constantly is very annoying then you pull up the clipboard and it glows like a welders arc basically useless untill you fiddle with the pg up or down. Once you get a window frame piece in front of the sun you can read the map.
This is about the 3rd or fourth time I have asked but, "Why is the clipboard letting all the sunlight through?" Why can't it be opaque and block the sun? And why is it neccessary for the clipboard to mimic the surroundings at all? I can remember flying thru clouds and not being able to find my plane icon. Can you change the color of that silver plane marker to something like International Orange? Or make it solid Black with a white outline so it can be seen when over water.

yes the sun SUKS...
I vote ..turn this crap off please..
It is ALWAYS ..setting or rising...
Its constanly in your eyes..and it suks..
If the nigth was there we would get a break from constant ..suns on Horizons...\
Before thsi we didnt have the sun glare ..so it wasnt a problem..BUT NOW!!!>.
Ya ..I hate it..
PLEASe..either....1) Extend High noon if you can...
2) Bring night back and thsi will give us longer periods of no frikn sun on the horizon
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...do your best to extend High noon times..
We really are fighting the majority of the tiem when the sun is on the HORIZON..!!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Dude I can't take it! First a snow ball goes for 3 mil on ebay and now BGBs post are readable. Cmon thats too much in one day.
What next?:D
Fess up who's using BGBs account? Cmon your busted who is it?:D
-
It's all good....makes higher frame rates.... 16 miles is far enough away.
IT'S THE SUN THAT SUCKS.
I would think, in real life, they wore sunglasses. Just as with the ability to look around (a real pilot can crane his neck, sit up or sit down QUICKLY, etc). I know there are limitations in the ability to change views quickly - and I dont mean just whipping the hat switch around, I mean "moving in the seat" at the same time, but the sun is overmodelled given we don't have sun glasses or visors to use.
I think the sun should run 10 AM to 2 PM and take 12 hours to traverse that angle. :)
