My old Logitech bit the dust after a long and painful life. On top of all Wingman-related problems the spring broke. So I ordered a new (used) MS Precision Sidewinder. Plugged it in. Added new hardware. Haven't done any searching for MS drivers to help mapping the buttons, though.
So anyways I enter AH offline to test it out. It sort of bounces around a lot (the infamous nose bounce) and the rudder is rather harsh. That was under my old Logicrap settings. I had to deadband and dampen out the wazoo just to fly at all with the Wingman. I restored all to default and it's still bouncing the nose and I don't like the overall feel of it.
So my question is... What settings would you Sidewinder users recommend for me? For roll/pitch/yaw, and rudder?
I tried upping a 190 and flying around against the p51 drones, but I would snap roll at 150 with a slight nose up (no warning either). I know it's the slider settings, because I had similar problems at one time with my old Logicrap, and got most of them fixed.
So, slider/deadband/damping settings. Let's hear 'em!!

is it USB or GAME PORT ---- the game port verison of the Side winder stuff always seen to have that problem!
+ what OS are you running
If its XP there are no drivers ya need(included in XP) just map your stuff in AH
As far as the game port version, (i've had both USB and GP) you need to dampin it a bit specially in the rudder selection and the roll! that was what i was having problems with!
but as a note i was using ht Sidewinder FF1 (GP)
with the Sidewinder 2 (USB version) never had a problem!

Boxboy, thanks for the tip about the dampening.
I do have XP. It is the gameport version (I didn't like either version's throttle, but the original had the least-worse of the two lol).
Two questions:
Just dampening? That's all that will fix it?
Don't need software for XP, but is there any available? My main concern is assigning a shift key to double my buttons. I have 1 less button on the stick handle than my old stick, and I really need a shift button for now. Unless there's a way to assign it in AH (that I don't know of) I think I need the MS mapping software.
