Gents,
Currently I am using IE. Every stinking time I use it I get a buttload of spyware anymore. I am sick of running Ad-Aware and Spyblaster every stinking day b4 I log onto AH2. I can't connect if I don't get rid of the spyware junk.
How easy is Firefox to use? Does it have spyware protection built into the software that stops spyware from getting into my computer? I'm afraid to even use IE anymore and haven't surfed the net in ages.

Firefox is pretty cool, until you find many web pages optimized for IE that just dont look right in firefox. The AH squad scoring pages are a good example. IE in my opinion is still the better browser.
Still, there are utilities in IE that you can use to limit the ingress of spyware and utilities you can use to eliminate them.
In my opinion, not surfing the net for fear of spyware is a little like never going outside for fear of skin cancer. Wear a little sunscreen and don't worry about it. What you miss so far outweighs what you fear, it's maddening.

I use IE for sites that need it to run, and Firefox for everything else.

I use Opera. Does everything Firefox can do plus more. Better gestures, customizing ect.

Firefox here also ...
my ad aware scans went from 500 baddies per week down to 5 and my av hasnt caught a single bug trying to jump onboard since i went to firefox :aok

Most of that crap comes from having java enabled, and active X when you go surfing the web. If you disable them you can choose when you want them on or off. It gets a little annoying having to click "OK" a few times to allow the java and active X applications to run, but you get less of the baggage that comes along with it.

Firefox....there is no substitute.....unless you like spyware, viruses and crap.

IE is fine, just prompt for all cookies, at first you will see alot of prompts, than as you add them to the "block always" lists they disappear. I surf IE only and get zero bad cookies.
Skuzzy posted somewhere on how to setup IE to be safe.

I use Firefox, and I love it. I can count the number of sites that I must use IE on one hand, but even the scores page on AH will work in Firefox if you disable Java scripting..

Heres a good chart that compares all the browsers avalible.

Opera is one of the best with its customization features and speed and blocking ability.

The real issue with IE is that it is not succure at all and is constantly being hit with exploits that have zero to do with your cookies. If you have ANY functionality in the browser to go to most websites IE is vulnerable. The issues comes to a head when you mistype a popular URL and end up at a page designed to infect your computer using IE exploits.
Besides....5 years later and we still dont have tabed browsing in IE....its pathetic really.

Firefox is not immune to security vulnerabilities. As it grows more popular expect to see more like this:
