We don't really get Loons here in Oregon. Off the coast in the Winter, but never inland. That's a Canada thing.
They are beautiful birds though.

Rgr that mini, didnt know that they were restricted to the Northern waters.
I just know i see them on our walleye trips early in the spring mornings.
Cut the motor and hear: http://www.ns.ec.gc.ca/wildlife/loons/sounds/wail.au
sound file does no justice to how smooth and haunting that bird sounds over smooth water.

Hey! Not only in Canada... Wisconsin stole some Loons from our northern tardacious winter friends.
I do love the sound. Haunting... meh, sure :) Very neat birds, great divers too!
-
yeah its preddy but does it taste like chicken?
-
you've never had duck. The easiest part about cooking duck is getting up at 4 in the morning, sitting in a blind at dusk, then waiting 2 hours to kill one of the ****ers. The real hard part starts after that.
I don't hunt duck because it's too hard to cook right... and I don't want to get up at 4 am. I can take pictures in the early afternoon.

Nice. I always see alot of tropical birds here, and never seem to have a camera handy. I wouldn't mind buying a nice camera to capture some of great photo's I see.
BTW Vulcan, duck tastes pretty damn good. :)
