I bet it's old news for you, but I've just found it.

It's a beauty!

She does look better in black than green like I saw it before. It's based on the G-36 so it will be a great new battle rifle for our troops.

That's alot meaner looking than the green prototypes. I didn't even recognize it until I saw the link.

You didn't start the thread.  It was more directed at the "hey lazs... look at this new fangled gun" title/post.  By reading what lazs has posted on guns, new fangled is one of his least important criteria for weapons.

I suppose all the euros thinking that lazs is synonymous with all that is guns is getting a bit tiring... no matter how much lazs seems to like it.

I have stated that a few times that I like firearms but that the black plastic things don't really get the blood going.   Maybe after it's been around 40 or 50 years.   I like the feel and the history.

I will shoot anything tho given the opportunity but... probly enjoy shooting a single action revolver more than that gee wizz HK... for sure enjoy shooting a Thompson more.

I like handguns with personality and/or history more than anything.

Sexy see through clip, all it needs is a grenade launcher and Ripley will be using it in Aliens 5.

Looks cool.  I wonder what'll happen the first time you try to buttstrock someone with it?  And I guess they want to be able to sell it in the states since there's no bayonet lug.  And I thought the Argyls had shown that the need for bayonet charges still existed?

And if we're ever attacked by gophers, we have an army armed with 5.56's.  :p

Not to bandwagon on Lazs because I now indeed want a makarov, but kinda into the history and dollar per usefulness gun thing myself.

It's still cool of course.

LOL. What do you think the civvy semi-auto version will go for? twice the price of a Bushmaster M-4 maybe (even though it will be cheaper to produce). Probably much much more than that when first introduced to the market - be the first on the range to have one! And it could use a few more rails to stick flashlights and laser sights and fake grenade launchers on.

I saw R. Lee Emery interview an Army Officer about it,  then shoot it, on Mail Call.   Seems slick

I did'nt knew lasz's "taste" ?sp? for the old stuff, I am learning it now.

Since I like the "look", or "design" of this xm8 I was asking him an opinion, being him, in my eyes, of course, "the expert" on personal weapons.

I have the impression that you consider my request as trolling around, if this is the case, you are wrong, and I am sorry if the opening post give this sensation.

@Lasz:

Well, if you had "been in my shoes" (hope it's correct), few years ago...

I was in a friend's house (an old man, may he rest in peace), that was hiding, since the germans flew, an active MP40.

I did'nt had the pleasure to use (shoot?) it, but holding it was a nice sensation, I wonder were it is now.

Not trolling naso.  Just misguided.

To be honest, 70% of the bbs would most likely have more of an oppinion on that gun than lazs.  It seems people would have picked up on that by now.

The main confussion seems to come from Lazs' desire to defend all that is guns with him being all that is guns.  I guess it's a fundamental euro understanding thing.  Basically, he's anything but unbiased on the new weaponry coming out.. though I do agree with him on this particular gun... especially in the assault riffle category.

Especially in cold weather, you slam the butt into something, it will break. It will break in hand to hand combat as well.

A baby-toy for Sci-fi nerds.

naso... I am in no ways an "expert"  By my generations standards I know a lot about guns.   By todays generations standards and international standards... I look like a friggin encyclopedia.

People seem so missinformed these days.

That MP40 is right up my alley tho..  rather shoot that sheet metal and machined boat anchor of a 9mm any day over the black plastic HK.

I never could figure out how a man could bond with them plastic things.

Maybe they haven't tested it yet.

I'm pickin up negative vibes towards brother Lazs from you MiniD man....what your bag....dad?

hmm... not that negative to me.   I fundamentaly agree with mini's assesment of my somewhat eccentric taste in firearms and my lack of knowledge on some of the newer weapons.
