At the behest of one of my squaddies, I am in the midst of creating a webpage full of little bits of info that I have gleaned from my time in the F6F. I am outlining it here at work and getting it organized so that I can create it over the weekend (provided I can tear myself away from Civ III :)).
If anyone has anyhting that they can contribute, I would be very greatful. While I fly it a lot and have had a little success in it, there are many guys out there that may approach fights differently than I do.
Things that would be helpful:
-Films
-Screens
-Any performance info
-BnZ tactics
-TnB tactics
-JABO films and tactics
-Anything else that you feel would be helpful to the newbie and old-hand alike
All credit will be given for stuff used. Also, if you post/submit stuff and it is not used, please don't take it personally, it may have been used by someone else or it may have been said/thought of earlier.
As I get it closer to being completed, I will post some stuff that is needed and maybe some previews of it in progress.
When it is done, I will post a link to it here.
Thanks in advance,
-Math

I would also like some to share how they approach combat versus various planes (such as the N1K, La 7, Spits, Pony, etc...)
-
I've been flying and dieing alot in the F6F lately...looking forward to the page.
-
Heres a neat bit of info. The F6f is just a wee bit smaller than the P47, but the hellcat does have more wing area.

So I'm not the only one with that problem? :D
I'm definitely looking forward to the Hellcat page. :) I love my pretty blue birds.
(edit) I'll see if I have some films, tho I don't film often in MA. You can post them as "How not to fly the Hellcat" :)

Hey Mathman... you don't have any films of the two of us rippin' up the Loosewaffles in the Rumble do ya?
Actually I guess that film wasn't all that good. We kinda crushed them. :D
I'll poke around the ole hard drive when I get home. I swear I saved some stuff from the rumble.
I'll have to comb through the old posts in this forum. I'm sure I've written quite a bit about the Hellcat in there someplace. Oh search function, where art thou?

Here is the secret search page:
http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=search (http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=search)
-
Yeah it's there, but it doesn't work. :/
-
Lephturn,
It's easy to search as long as you know who wrote the artical. Just go to the users profile and click "recent Post". You can search everything they ever posted.

Mathman,
after reading some posts here by you and AmOn, I decided to give the hellcat another shot (tried it before and sucked):
11:2 K/D ratio in 4 sorties, usually I'm more around 1:1.
well, here is some raw data of fuel consumption from my tests (still not on my website):
the cat has 3 tanks of equal size: 2 NU, 1 main. each will last at full throttle (man=60) for 3:27 per 1/4 tank.
it will do 6:13 per 1/4 of DT.
throttling down by 1/3 (man=40) will add 30% to those figures.
all figure are for MA where fuel-burn-rate is set to 1.5 .

Your profile doesn't include your Email, and the web link given there in returns "not found"......

I thought fuel burn rate in MA was 2.0?

Hmmm, Here (http://people.we.mediaone.net/alemanymathman/index.htm) is my web page.
My email address is (sorry for the length...) alemanymathman@mediaone.net.
Sorry that I didn't put this in my original post, but for someone reason the link in my profile doesn't work even though it is correct. Oh well.
Hellcat Page will be up sometime this weekend. I will give more info as it gets closer to being finished.

HaMmeR
are you sure?
i tried to look in the areana settings but all figures show zero, and i think i've read some where that it's 1.5.
i'll look into it, but anyone here know for sure?
thx for bringing this to my attention HaMmeR.

Would you be interested in me writing up something on dive bombing in the hellcat? Could also give you some film.
I think you probably have the ACM/fighting area under control your self (nothing i could tell you, you didnt already know).
-
Any information would be appreciated. :)
As far as ACM in the Hellcat, all information is welcome, as I don't know everything about it (my multiple deaths in it should serve as a clear example of that :))

I beg to differ!
I think your multiple deaths, from what i seen, came from trying to fight 4:1 odds. (and still managing to kill a few)
When im home from work tonight i can make a film of ZeroG dive bombing, and possibly a angled attack bombing.
I could also put something together on the proper way to yo-yo a low tempest ;)
hehe

Hey mathy-boy if you want to make some films I'd be happy to be a flying target for you in the TA or Dueling Arena sometime. :D
-
Well, the website is coming along, a little slower than I thought it would due to a couple reasons.
1. I left all my notes at work over the weekend :(
2. All the films I took yesterday of 1v1's and furballs don't seem to be working.
So, that being said, hopefully I will get the site up by Thursday (at least in a temporary format).
Anyways, if anyone has films, still taking them. I will continue checking to see that the films are working or whatever.

HaMmeR, you were right,
fuel-burn multiplyer in the MA is 2.
so corrected figures for the hellcat in MA:
with full throttle (man=60) for each NU/MAIN tank - 2:35 min per 1/4 of tank, 4:40 per 1/4 of DT.
Throttling down by 1/3 (man=40) will add 30% to those figures.
accuracy is +- 5 sec.
again, thx for the correction.
