Does anyone have a tutorial on the radio and how to tune the channels to something other than what they are preset for?
In particular I've not been very succesful in trying to figure out how to tune to someone on a private channel.
It was told to me once in flight but I had neither pen nor paper around to note the process down at the time (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
I checked the FAQ, Indians help file and I did a search on this UBB but could not find a previous discussion.
Any help appreciated!

Sure,
The basic command is typed into the radio buffer on any channel. ".radio 1 4" (withouth the quotes of course) would set radio channel 1 to channel 4, which is the squad only channel.
Ch. 1 is everybody (grey)
ch. 2 is your country (green)
ch. 3 is your country only in your area (purple)
ch. 4 is your squad
100 - 199? I think is your country only those tuned to it.
To tune to a specific person type ".radio 1 Lephturn", where Lephturn is whatever handle you want to chat to. That text shows in white.

BTW, if you are tuning to a wingman on private, another good trick is:
.wingman Lephturn
Substitute Lephturn with whoever you would like to be your wingman. That person's icon will then show up in white, making them easy to see in a big furball. If you check the map, your wingman will also show up as a white dot instead of the regular green. It's a great tool.

Ok, here it is, all I know about the radio. First of all, the radio can save 5 selectable channels at once. (Ex. 2,4,1,bloom25,1) To use channel one (first listed channel, use / and type your message. For channel box number 2, it's shift/, channel box 3 is cntl/, and 4 is alt/. I don't believe the 5th box has a key command set up by default.
Now, on to what the different channels do. (Note: I'm refering to the number you put in a box, ex: put 2 in box number 1.) Number 1 is open channel-everyone can hear you (grey text). 2 is country only (green text), 3 is purple text, and also rarely used by myself (this channel transmits to anyone else in flight, if you are in flight, and anyone on the ground, if you are on the ground), 4 is squad only (red text), 100-199 is country only (green text also), but others must specifically tune into the channel you have selected to hear your messages. (Ex: "All bombers going to bish hq, tune to radio 130" This allows only those who tune to this channel, and that are part of your country, to hear your messages)
200-299 is similar to 100-199, but ANYONE who is tuned to this channel can hear you, regardless of country. Private messages can be sent by typing the handle of the person you wish to broadcast to into one of the 5 boxes. This text is white.
Important notes: Do not press enter after putting a channel number into a box. Simply enter the number, then click into the text buffer itself. Another note: text will appear in the color corresponding to which channel you are on when you type it.
Ok, lets do some examples in case I've totally confused you now. Lets say your radio channel numbers are, in order, 2,1,4,bloom25,1. To send a message to your country, press / and type your message. To send a message to everyone, press shift/ and type your message. For squad, it would be, cntl/ then your message. For a private message to bloom25, press alt/ and type your message.
In the future a channel 5 will also be added for intraplane communications. Not yet implemented. (I appologize for the messy format of this message, I'm at work using a lynx browser. (text only))
