Title: Question about object editor
Post by: Raptor on January 14, 2005, 07:32:14 PM
Would we be able to add guns and that sort of thing to an object? for example say I made a Japanese carrier, would I be able to make it function the same way our essex class carrier works?

Not sure what Ben is saying...? :)

Raptor, it won't work that way; it'll be scenery only.

Thought Raptard was going to post a 'when' question, so I was ready to type the standard answer of 2 weeks.

So Dux, if scenery - I take it that would be trees, buildings, burnt/destroyed objects, ect....

Would objects on airfeilds be open to creation as well in the new TE / OE? Even just static pieces?

Say Barracks, ect... and new objects? say refueling trucks instead of fuel tanks?

And they are using 1 Unit = 1 foot?

I'm not so sure about the scenery only theory. If you design a new gun or carrier or whatever, once it's placed in the map and the object type is set as a ship, gun or whatever it should be able to be destroyed, etc.

I'd wait for word from HT on this one.

Yes, it will be "destroyable" scenery, NHawk. My answer to Raptor meant that we would not be able to make new "mannable" things, like Japanese carriers.

I asked once if we would be able to make unmanned AI merchant ship convoys, and the answer was "probably not"... But who really knows what the future will bring? :)

Waffle: "yes" on all questions.
