it was so stiff so i returned to my CH set and stored in the cupboard.
in my second try after couple of month i remember doing that
firmware update ... thrrotle didnt responde after.
i told myself i will check it later .... and stored it again.
your post on this issue make me wonder again ..
so i checked my Cougar today.

what i have to do now?
what a bad luck ......
my CH stick going to die soon after 9 Years of great service,
and i need My Cougar to be operational ...

If ya flashed the new firmware with the throttle attached, most likely your throttle pot fried and ya need to get a new one from TM.

you see ... i didnt know it till he published his message in the forum.
I dont realy remember when i bought myne.

That sucks dude....
I called Thurstmaster and they claim to have sent me a replacment POT for the throttle. This was a few weeks ago and it should have been here by now so I don't know.
you have another option which is to get a hall sensor. They are about 75 bucks but apparently it a digital POT that will not fry with firmware updates and will not spike... ever..
I'll dig up some links and post back....

Cougar is a great stick design ... with crappy innards and crappier support ... its too bad.
I gave my Cougar away ... and went with all CH ... best decision I have made in awhile.

You should fix your Cougar by buying another CH, you said yourself the last CH lasted 9 years right? You got your money's worth out of that, and getting another CH seems the logical thing to do.

It'll take a lot longer than a few weeks to get your replacement pot to you, puff.
Go to Frugal's World (http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/updates.php) and do a search for replacement throttle pots. I ordered mine from there and got it within a couple weeks. I had also ordered a replacement pot free from TM, and it came about 3 months later.
good luck.

Remove the rubber boot at the base.
There is a mod at CougarWorld that replaces it with a black sock. I just chucked it.

Oliver "Red Dog" is out of them, there's talk about another production run but nothing so far. It took me about 6 months to get my Z-pot, but mine was among the first of them to fry. It seems that the Z-axis uses a different (slightly) pot than the X or Y, and the Z-pots only last about a year or so and the degree of use has no bearing on their failure date. TM is shiping a different part now, diffferent than the ones that came stock if your serial number is below 12,000 or so.
It's sad, TM used to have the best customer service bar none, but then some french SOB bought them and now they have about the worst customer support I've ever seen. Particularly sad since I've flown nothing but TM gear since about 1989, makes it hard to sing their praises even though they have great designs.
