I am currently downloading map editor and I was wondering if there is a place with good instructions and steps on how to make your maps.

And whenever you have a question that isn't answered in the help file, just do a search on this Board. The search box at the bottom of the  post list is an invaluable tool when starting a map.

Ok everytime I minimize map editor then come back to it my whole map turns black and I can only see the fields.  I have to restart it again in order to see my map.

This also happens when I create a map.  My whole map turns black and when I check on the bmp file it just shows water.

How do I fix this?

No fix. Its a 'bug/feature'.

Never resize/minimize or move the editor while a map is open.

And save your work often.

Dont get frustrated with the editor, youll get used to the rather capricious handling .

Edit: name your terrain with maximum of 8 letters.

The make map feature on Editor2 doesnt work, you have to download editor1 to make maps. the how youll find in a recent thread i started: clipboard maps.

You'll need to create a folder called texsrc and place them there.

All of the original terrain tiles are all available from AH-Terrains and they are 512 x 512.

Build the terrain, load it into AH2, and use it's field config under arena settings.

No, you do not have to start over again.  Do not manually add map rooms.  Simply add a town to to the field, putting it one mile away from the airfield.

Because HTC would have an upto date cloud editor?

Anyway, I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that the current weather editor that is publicly released doesn't work right.

ahhhhh
I realy wanted to do some crazy things with the cloud editor like making a sea of clouds moving 500 mph and have a mountain break through the clouds having a base up thier. :(

that would of been sweet.

The cloud editor has not been released yet.  The NDisles terrain has clouds in it as we added them.

Skuzzy,

Even though there is no cloud editor yet for TE2, is the *.wca file functional?  Can we modify this file by hand to create clouds?  Can we get NDisles's *.wca file to use as an example?

You can try it Mach.  The format changed for that file.  The .awa file is the weather file.

Or you can wait until the new tools are out.  Don't ask when.

Skuzzy,

Tried it and no go.

I made a *.awa file using the current (old) cloud tool and placed it in my TE2 terrain folder, and then opened TE2 and built the terrain.  A *.awb file was created but was blank so I know the editor at least looked at the *.awa file.  The resulting *.res file was the same size as the one without clouds so I don't think it worked – I also loaded into AH2 but found no clouds.

As you mentioned, the format for the *.awa file has changed.  Unless we can see an example of a good .awa file, we're stuck until the new tool is out.

I still cant get these fields setup.

For each field u put is it a different zone# or field #?

and I also been in some servers with the map room on the field and when I try to do that it puts the map room in the middle of the runway intersection:confused:

Just move the maproom where you want it, the editor will show it snaping back to center but when you build your map it will be where you moved it.
