Here's another reason why I've always hated Knight Rider (besides David Hasslehoff and the stupid premesis):

OMG,
Great analogy for the cylons to Knight rider....
Hey how do I get me one of those #6's???????
I think the new show is doing REALLY WELL! I love the cinematography. My wife and I own the entire series (original) on DVD and at first I thought the "new" Starbuck sucked...however I am coming around and really like the new one.
I think that the new show will be a real hit!!!!!:aok

Clearly Kitt is a Cylon,
No way could Kitt be a Cylon and David Hasslehoff not also be in on it.
Therefore, David Hasslehoff MUST DIE!

Skuzzy... pirating? Of a television show?
Pfftt...

Regardless of Skuzzy's personal feelings on the matter, of which I have no idea, it's probably a good policy for HTC or any other company with a BB. Why tempt fate by letting your BB members post links to anything questionable in regards to piracy, while the MPAA and RIAA are going ape watermelon and handing out lawsuits like they were candy.
-
Yes Sandman. I did not write the copyright law. If you want to change it, then go for it. Util then we (HTC) will abide by it.
Edit: Not personal at all SOB. It is a matter of law and not worth HTC getting in the middle of it.

If it's anything like farscape they wont have a new season out till march of 2006. It seems like sci-fi productions like this don't follow a reagular season schedule. Farscap once had a "primer season" it was only 4 or 5 eps then another 6 months for the new season.....then it was cancled

I was sure it was Dirk Benedict! But I couldn't find any verification of it in the end titles, guest stars or even the net.
BSG2 looks promising from the few episodes I've seen, I wonder if they'll ever air it in the wilderness I live in. You know, moose walking on the streets etc.

You're right... If we pretend that Bitorrent doesn't actually exist, it will cease to do so. I thought I was being rather safe... no links to any actual files were posted. Oh well...

ok, don't want to get in a pissing contest with anybody, least of all Skuzzy, but let's say I posted this link: http://www.mirc.com (the chat program)
through mirc you can get pretty much everything. in fact, I think most people use it for that rather than chatting.
yes, it is legal software, but isn't it the same as posting a link to copyrighted material?

So if I post a link to a search site like... oh say ... Google (http://www.google.com), from which you can search for copyrighted material be against copyright law? Which should be the same as posting a link to a search site like Loki Torrent (http://www.lokitorrent.com/index.php) wouldn't it? Both can be used for legitimate material. Both can be used for pirated copyrighted material.
I guess I don't see the difference between the two... One just has more directed search criteria....

Just for the record, I don't think it makes sense that he should have to, but that's not the world we live in. Zero tolerance with a nasty message to people who do anything close to helping pirate anything is just the smart way to play it.
I mean, really, based on what you've seen the MPAA/RIAA do, do you really think it's beyond the realm of possibility that they'd start suing BB operators for even the most trivial references to piracy of their stuff?

I wouldn't sweat it. If the series is done well, these same people will purchase it on DVD rather than sit through the gawdamn commercials. This is the one thing that bugs the **** out of me about the SciFi channel. They can't seem to go more than four minutes without airing a commercial during BSG.
I've done much the same with another series. I had seen "Sports Night" a few times on television but our schedules didn't mesh so I never got to watch it as much as I wanted to. I downloaded about ten episodes on BiTorrent and got so hooked on it, I bought the DVD set.
-
I downloaded the miniseries and the 12 episodes aired so far (no BSG in Spain), and I just bought the Miniseries DVD, it was simply too good not to have it.
If I hadn't been able to download it, I wouldn't have purchased it, so the Mpaa can thank bittorrent for that :)

That's just it, they're too thick to realize that people d/l stuff for fun from there. It's a great source for new items to _buy_ later if you get hooked. Especially for movies the quality is so low that nobody really will want to watch them seriously.
They're retards, what can I say.

One thing that I noticed in episode 12 was that it showed ammunition that the Cylon Raider fired. So no laser cannons but projectiles!

And I could be mistaken, but the security forces onboard Galactica carry standard issue FN P90s.

Unfortunately I don't, so i have to download it. However there is one thing I'm uncertain of; if it is legal to tape tv shows how can it be illegal to record it on your PC? This is not a CD or DVD that someone copy, this is a tv show that is aired.
I do however have concerns about the viability of commercially funded tv shows like BSG if most people just download it.

that's such BS. They could have faught it and won but the problem is that I would have cost them just as much to settle as it would to fight it.
Knowing me and my pig headedness I would have shown up in court ALONE without a lawyer and claimed freedom of speech rights or something like that.
What happens in a court case if somone sues you and wins 50 grand or something and you are a poor pauper like me? I'm curious if anyone actually gone to court with the RIAA. It would be hard to prove that the defendent was actually AT the computer and actually downloaded something.

Got all of them now... just waiting for #3 DL* to finish before I watch them (Only saw the pilot & episode 1 so far).
The ships seem to move properly and they are not sending their captain on "away teams" (thank cod for that...). Looks promissing indeed!
*-Not aired in Lululand... probably won't for another 5 years before it gets translated...

Just finished watching the last episode of the first series. WOW! Loads of spoilers if anyone interested!!! :)
-
I was surprised to find out that the whole series took place in the imagination of an autistic Cylon child, staring into a snowglobe. :D
I just finished ep 10 on a flight to LA last night, freakin great. I really like how certain characters have developed.
-
Normally when series finish they say when the new series is out... but Sky One didn't even mention it! :( If there is a new series then it will no doubt be aired Autumn (Fall!) 2005. BTW the last episode is # 13.
What happens to the President?
What happens to Starbuck?
What happens to Boomer?
What happens to Adama?
:)
I've actually just ordered the entire original series (7 discs) since it was on offer for $45.
I've also found out that the new BSG Series 1 is available on DVD Region 2 on 28 March 2005 priced at £39.99 or $75
-
My understanding of BSG lore is that the Cylons were created by the 12 Colonies’ version of the MPAA/RIAA to hunt down content pirates. The hot chicks were specially designed to infiltrate IT geek strongholds (look how successful they were with Baltar). However, they spun out of control and took their programming too well. After realizing that is was an unwinnable war (as Baltar's pirated porn collection alone would indicate), the next step was to initiate the annihilation of "all customer bases and marketing demographics" in the 12 systems. Innocent criminals? Victimless crime? Beyond cold calculation. The sweet little girl who was vaporized in the pilot episodes on that ship left behind... turns out her parents had downloaded, without credit transaction, a copy of the popular Caprian children's show Twinkii Winkii Winkii.
A rather brutal lot, and there goes a lesson for our times. Look for future Cylon human models that will bear a striking resemblance to Lars Ulrich and Dr. Dre.

The MPAA should thank the intardnet.
DLed it and bought the DVD while watching it.
It's one of the best Sci-Fi productions EVAR.

Well the amount of money that Sky make they're bound to fund another series! Come on Sky, tell us when!!!
-
Starbuck is ok, but her storyline is one that needs much development. Why is she the way she is, etc.
The prez, I disagree, I love the character and the way Mary McDonell plays her. We've seen how she evolves from a shy government official to a scheming politician.
Oh, and I can't say if it's the best Sci-fi series ever, but I'd dare to say it's the BEST 1st season for a Sci-Fi series EVAH!
Incredible character development, intriguing storylines, amazing visuals... hope they keep up the good work in Season 2 (6 scripts have been ordered so far).

I just love to hate the President! :) She's a cow, she knows it, but she'll be proven right!
Starbuck.... hmm... I think how she's turned out isn't quite as how they'd have liked it?
BTW I'm sure I saw Apollo flying the newer Viper in one of the more recent episodes. Think they fly them if they think they're not in danger from the Cylons?

In the miniseries I believe they said that the only fighters unaffected by the cylon virus were the old Mk II and the ones "needing serious refitting", so I suppose that several Mk VII may have survived the initial cylon attack (but did not fight).
As a matter of fact, it is stated that the cylons disabled the ships via Baltar's navigation program, so the ships without it wouldn't be affected.

In addition he went through and removed all the malicious code from his program as well. Boy what a cliff hanger though!!!!!!!!!!
I happen to really like starbuck. She comes off as one of those cheesy characters that you love to hate at first exploiting every tom boy cliche there is. Later in the season you start to see a better more respectable side to her (especially the interogation) not to mention a little hanky panky never hurt character development.
It's sad though with only 6 eps ordered this is bound to turn out just like farscape. A few eps here a few eps there.

MEGA SPOILED

Here's my take on Season 1 and what I think is the main story behind all the mysticism.
I think that everything has been perfectly orchestrated by the cylons. We have seen how Starbuck can go in a Cylon Raider to Caprica from the vicinity of Kobol in a SINGLE JUMP.
We know that most of the time, the Cylons know where Galactica is (they do have spies on the fleet), and we have seen raiders jumping in, watching, jumping out.
And we have watched how the cylons desperately need "love" and feeling human. It's as if they needed human contact in order to fulfill their existence.
I believe that the cylons are using the prophecies in order to guide the fleet to the place they want and make things happen in such a way that they make their way into them, blending with humans and being accepted.
As a matter of fact, the fleet has been somehow "coaxed" into going to certain places: Boomer blowing up the water reserves, Baltar being "guided" by Number 6 and her "god"...
That brings me to the conclussion that the president, with her very lucid visions and faith in the prophecies, has to be a cylon.
Adama... well, he is reacting like a soldier, so it's not necessary for him to be a cylon to make the decissions he made... then again, Sharon ***************** at the end of the last episode made me think twice... why would she do that? Was she influenced by her cylon persona or by her belief that she's human?
But there are some loose ends: the prophecy says that everything happens again, "a la matrix". Is this an iteration of an experiment of the cylons?
God this series is good.

I just started watching the original series again. I forgot that the Human's didn't create the Cylons, but an alien lizard race called the 'Cylons' created them.

Just read:
Galactica Blasts Back:
Six scripts prepared for second season, as first season makes US debut…
The Sci Fi Channel has yet to officially approve production of a second season. However, in an encouraging sign the broadcaster has placed an order for six scripts. "Just after I finished exhaling, it'll be time to jump back into it," said executive producer David Eick, breaking news of the decision.
Despite the new re-imagining of the 1970s show, an additional movie continuation of the original TV space adventure is being developed by its creator, Glen A. Larson. In late December the original series' composer Stu Phillips revealed that he "had lunch with Glen Larson about five or six weeks ago. He says that he is still working on getting Battlestar Galactica on the big screen. As yet, nothing definite."

Isn't the imperious leader a representation of them?
Off the top of my head (I have the original DVD boxset - but can't remember properly) the machines revolted and killed all the lizards, and the imperious leader is an artificial version of the cylon race (which is why there are more than one) - or the imperious leader is the last of the original cylons...
Galactica series should start here within the next two weeks!!!
And I did see the (part 1?) boxset advertised on amazon.co.uk
